This just came up in another thread but I felt it deserves its own since this has been a long-standing misconception that I've heard over and over since the 90s.
It is often stated that the babyface Doink that replaced Matt Borne was aka Vince Apollo and or Phil Apollo. This is *not* the case.
Ray Licameli (also known as Ray Apollo) was WWF's Doink after Borne left. The only "Apollo" name he used was Ray. If you ever want to see Ray without his Doink make-up, you can find him in a WCW match, as Sgt. Krueger teaming with Col. DeKlerk (aka Ted Petty/Rocco Rock) in one of those 90s PPV tag tourneys they did. (And funny enough, Krueger is often misattributed to being Matt Borne, even though they look nothing alike):
Phil Pantos (aka Vince Apollo/Phil Apollo) is a completely separate guy who has long been confused as Ray because of the Apollo surname. Vince/Phil is mostly known for his World Class stint and some WWF jobber work. This is Phil:
