Not to make light of the subject, but Harvey Weinstein is one sack of shit that truly deserves the mocking.

Watch him get like a 2 year sentence. That may well happen but he'd also be open to civil suits and would (hopefully) lose the vast majority of his wealth and assets in that.

Sadly I can all too easily picture him pulling a Polanski.

Apparently he's handed himself in. Assuming his lawyers have told him to be contrite in the hope of leniency.

A lot of people have a lot to answer for as to he operated with such brazen impunity for so long.
But I guess they'll just pull the "I'm just shocked and appalled" line while counting the cash they made with him.

Here's hoping he spends the rest of his life behind bars.

But I guess they'll just pull the "I'm just shocked and appalled" line while counting the cash they made with him. With actors, I get that and I agree. As proven with Harvey, though, that's easier said then done. What makes this story so shocking was because of the power he had over people. There are the stories of actors having their careers practically ended for wanting to speak out and nobody believing them because of the power he essentially wielded to wreck their careers. That's before you take in the reaction to sexual abuse cases from either the general public or other actors. We just had an incident where someone spoke out about someone's verbal abuse and it was shot down in the same interview, this JUST happened. Absolutely don't take this as justification and it's why there's this movement for change across all industries but if someone has the power to stop you from getting bigger and bigger roles because you tell everyone you're "difficult", why would you speak up?

People's lives were apparently threatened too. Coercion and intimidation were among Weinstein's most powerful tools, and he had the money and influence to make good on his threats.
It isn't justification, but it is understandable.

Surprised he didn't try to pull a Roman Polanski and bail out of the States when this all first came up, honestly. Speaking on that, Polanski is a big reason I don't take a lot of the male actors condemning Weinstein seriously. How many actors knowingly went outside the US to make films with Roman Polanski knowing full well that he's a pedophile?

I mean we could probably literally count them on IMDB, but that seems laborious. It is definitely baffling to me why so many give him a free pass. I love Chinatown as much as the next guy, but he should have been persona non grata.

Send him down, preferably for a long time. For all of his bluster about innocence and denying the claims, turning himself in essentially admits his guilt.
It's never nice to see that someone you admire is in fact a monster, but I hope that the judge comes down on him hard.

I mean, if you know there is a warrant out for your arrest and you are innocent, generally you don't start running either.

The way he was talking when the accusations came out, though - it was as if he actually believed he was innocent. At one point he told reporters that he was bearing up well and finding strength to carry on. That's nice, Harvey; just as long as you're not suffering.
