Oh its been 15 minutes get up and change the side of the record. And don't get me started on singles. I mean I got to carry around how many objects just to listen to the songs I want?

It's funny you bring this up.
I was cleaning up my front room the other day and found out my mom still has all of her 45's and records.
Somewhere around here she has that one beatles record still in plastic.

Remember when the cassette player would pull out the tape from the case and you'd have to use a pencil in one of the holes on the cassette to wind the tape back in and hope that it would still play okay?

I'm cleaning, and have played Pandora, during it. Stopping to skip a ton of songs, is a pain in the ass. :/

How about a song you really liked, and called the radio station to play it? And you always got the busy signal. How about taping a song off the radio and they talked halfway through it. Or you get the song good but during the 'out-tro' you get the intro of a song you hate. EDIT: or during the 'out-tro' you get the call letters of the radio station and it's AM radio because you're too uncool to have a big enough antenna to pick up a proper FM station. |

How about taping a song off the radio and they talked halfway through it. Or you get the song good but during the 'out-tro' you get the intro of a song you hate. EDIT: or during the 'out-tro' you get the call letters of the radio station and it's AM radio because you're too uncool to have a big enough antenna to pick up a proper FM station. How about changing stations and finding the song you like and you record it only to find out that it wasn't the intro, but the outro and the song is over. |

Cassette players that forced you to switch the tape over to play Side B sucked. So did Discmans that didn’t have anti-skip. It’s a f***ing Discman, odds are if I’m using it I’m f***ing travelling so make sure that piece of shit doesn’t skip when I’m out running, biking, or riding in a car with poor suspension!!!

In the late 80s I saved up my pay check for a few weeks and go a very early Discman. It ate batteries in like 2 hours tops. Was way too heavy. And if you breathed heavy it would skip. I had got it to use during cross country. After one practice I went back to using my Walkman and CDs stayed a "Listen to at home thing." As far as records go... Well if I was listening to albums we had one of those stereos were you could stack 5 albums and it would play one side them switch to the next record. I didn't have many singles. |

Cassettes were evil.
Imagine just playing an MP3 and it just decides that you this time, it'll just disintegrate in your player. I guess that's corrupted data, but that is a much more specific circumstance than all the ways cassettes can fail you.

I will be 40 this year and have never used a turntable I am turning 44 in a few months. Grew up with a big stereo in the back of the living room. Plus I had a Fisher Price record player.Got a much better record player in 87 or so. |

bloody young people don't know what's good for them YOU'LL LIKE THAT REEL-2-REEL TAPE PLAYER I GOT FOR YOUR CHRISTMAS AND YOU'LL LIKE IT!!!  my parents had one when i was itty bitty and was genuinely scared of touching it, case i broke it, but i loved listening to it still got a six vinyl singles somewhere and most of my parents albums and singles i really didn't mind the dj prattle on over the start and end of taped songs, thought it was cute to hear all those years later, think i only threw out two tapes ever ..... those cheaper ones got a little tight, i yes i did the pen thing and twirled the tape around it like a little dervish! |
