Man, I just enjoy seeing people post psychological breakdowns of the Rocky opponents.
Creed is arrogant and obsessive but no villain. His pride is stung into making some bad moves, but not maliciously.
Lang is vicious, crude and sadistic, but he did earn his shot legit and was right about Rocky having ducked him. The taunts to Adrian were bad but designed as a push to get Rocky to sign to fight him. And he even admits he doesn't actually hate Balboa, famously. He just sees him as a roadblock. I can see the Foreman parallels.
I think Drago is possibly the one closest to a straight villain, because he barely has a personality. He's more of a guided missile. You can suggest a bit of sympathy for being pushed and moulded in the Soviet system. Yet he has no flicker of remorse about Apollo's death and his only expressed desire is self-serving - "I fight to win, for me! For me!"
Tommy is already messed-up kid before Rocky took him under his wing. Rocky did a pretty good job, as well, but didn't push back on the "Rocky's puppet" stuff when he should have quickly nipped that all in the bud. Duke played on that resentment, of which Tommy had a lifetime's worth, and that was that.
Mason's kind of a nothing. It's more of a business move and a slightly pricked ego. Ricky's too wild but not a villain and given a sympathetic reasoning.
As a villain, I'd nominate Drago. As the most entertaining opponent, probably Creed.

Drago Junior will put all these perpertrators to shame in Creed 2 by pissing on Apollo's grave and posting the video on YouTube.
