I remember as a kid thinking Coach definitely did it since Vince started going in a different direction and Coach pointed him the other way towards the limo that killed him. I think Coach was one of the names being led around as having potentially "dun it." Along with Paul London for smiling as Vince walked through the hallway. Paul wasn't there for much longer.

On a side note, i remember after the limo incident there was a GIF floating around (maybe even on this board) that had HBK typing something into a computer, and then a shot of the limo explosion. Anyone remember this?

Anyone remember this? Yes, it did come from this board in fact and was reposted on here sometime in the past month. Also don't forget that the PPV the night before the funeral was also Mick Foley's last match with the company... and also featured Jimmy Snuka and Sgt. Slaughter wrestling for the Smackdown tag belts. 2007 WWE pre tragedy was a strange place.

Wasn't it to kill off the Mr McMahon character for good? I honestly couldn't see a chance in hell of that sticking long term, even if the retcon didn't happen immediately after. I remember Vince doing an interview some time after he got injured at the 2005 Rumble, and when asked about a potential return date he talked about how the Mr McMahon character might've run his course by now and maybe it was time to retire completely from being on screen, and I was like "No, you won't..."

Vince's plan was to kayfabe the business on the whole and not appear out in public or during shareholder things, just completely deep six to sell the story, and then he was going to return with, no f***ing joke, a hobo army. I know it's not true but I laughed myself silly reading this. I can actually see Vince doing something like this.

And if the other story I’d heard of back in the day of Vince donating his old clothes to the homeless was also true, they should have been wearing 1992 Prime Time Wrestling-era Zubaz outfits.

I remember as a kid thinking Coach definitely did it since Vince started going in a different direction and Coach pointed him the other way towards the limo that killed him. Paul London was a fan guess, and Bobby Lashley was rumored since he had demolition experience from his military years. But that made wayyyyyyyyyyyy too much sense. And to Vince's hobo army, it wouldn't have worked because Dean Ambrose wasn't signed yet

And to Vince's hobo army, it wouldn't have worked because Dean Ambrose wasn't signed yet WWE made plenty of references to London being responsible as well. During the "Vince you have an illegitimate son!" angle that mimicked the limo explosion they also made reference to London's smiling.
