I saw Jojo Rabbit, 1917, and this today.
While the first two were masterpieces.
Birds of Prey was a enjoyable âthrill rideâ.
I absolutely loved Huntress.
While I love the MCU, but DC is really hit or miss.
So while Harley might be a pop culture icon, I think people still had a bad taste in their mouths from Suicide Squad. Plus horrible marketing and a pretty bad released date.

DC got a better creative team but their marketing team isnât anywhere near as good as the beginning of the DCEU. Plus, and this is gonna sound terrible. But movies that are specifically marketed as âBad ass girls kicking ass and fighting against the systemâ have done awful lately. It seems people donât want this overly done girl power thing. They just want heroes and exciting action set pieces. What works as a t-shirt slogan isnât necessarily going to sell a movie. Wonder Woman wasnât marketed like this was. What sucks is that Margot Robbie put her whole ass in this one. Pretty much taking over whatever else they had planned and putting this movie together with a handpicked cast and crew. If WB lost faith in Cavill over him just being in movies people didnât like, this has got to be a blow. The spinoff quasi sequel to a movie that made 700 million is probably going to get its doors blown off by the Sonic the hedgehog movie. You are right that the Sonic movie will likely do a lot better next weekend. I went to see this in the daytime yesterday and it didn't have a lot of people there. It was almost in the same number range as when I saw Charlie's Angels last November. Speaking of which, as it relates to the 2019 Charlie's Angels film and also this one, some have said that Birds of Prey had some sort of feminist/"woke" message going for it. It almost feels like in this day and age whenever there is an action film with female leads, people talk about the "woke" culture thing, which also pertained to Terminator Dark Fate.

To be fair, Dark Fate had a whole âborder control/border wallâ subplot. Hard to not connect political dots there.

If positive word of mouth becomes a thing, I can see the movie having some lasting power vs. a strong week 1 that fizzles out in later weeks. The marketing for the movie was atrocious, but audiences that have seen it seem to like it. A B+ Cinemascore roughly translates to "It was ok", not "You gotta go see this one!". It's only real saving grace might be that there doesn't seem to be a huge "date night" release next weekend but even still, it's got 3 new movies to contend with.

If The Joker wasn't around any longer to influence her, she would have eventually turned sane and settled down, that's established in the DCAU. That is established in the DCAU and the DCAU alone. It holds for no other incarnation/reality.

It holds for no other incarnation/reality. I look to the DCAU as the sole authority on what her character is, since it's where she spawned from, and especially since I don't like where others have taken her since then. As I've said, they miss the point.

I canât get over how embarrassing this is for the studio.
They upended their plans to make this movie. Freeing them up to do Joker. And they didnât believe in Joker, cut the budget and cut up production costs with third parties to mitigate their losses (lowering their potential gain as well)
But they put full financial backing and advertising muscle in this for that result. The same weekend of the Oscars where Joker is nominated 11 times. This feels like something thatâs going to have big ramifications by the summer. Iâm talking ANOTHER shift at the top of WBâs DC division, Harley being killed off in SS. Something,
Also. Hey, saw the movie the other day and really liked it!

The only hint that WB didn't get behind Joker comes from the article claiming Jared Leto tried to get it shut down... and given Joker got made and released while Leto is practically blacklisted from DC puts some strain on the credulity of the claims.

I think the issue with those "lesser IP Movies" from DC is that they feel the need to shove an "big icon anchor".
You had to shove Joker and Batman in Suicide Squad and you had to make Harley Quinn the big attraction of Birds of Prey instead of letting then sink or swim on their own.
You want a Harley movie?Make a Harley Movie.

So, the Fourth Pillar of DC turned out to be more of a broom holding up a trap door?

In no grading system does B+ mean "it was ok" Considering Suicide Squad got a B+ too, I agree. Taste and opinion are personal and subjective. But the point stands - B+ is not "just ok" - that would be what C means. Average. Not excelling, not failing. B is above average and B+ is one step away from great/outstanding. That was the whole point of that Daniel Bryan angle. If someone thinks Suicide Squad was just that damn good, that's their thing, not mine.

At least it isnt video games where if a game scores a 75 it means they said it is complete garbage ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png)
