Zsaz was so creepy and I liked him. Loved the movie I had pretty low expectations but it was great and Huntress was great as well. My gf who knows nothing about DC even liked the movie

Harley can be just a bit overbearing when focused on for so long, but I still love her.
I dug weird/awkward Huntress.
Zsasz was unsettling AF.
The movie was certainly a ride. I liked it.

I mean..I wasn’t ever bored? I don’t really know how I felt about it yet. Yeah, that's about where I am. Upon first viewing, I didn't care for it because I felt the music made it difficult to hear what Harley was saying... that just could have been the theater I was watching the movie. Honestly, I left before the end credits scene just because I wanted to get out of the theater. The film was kind of just "there" for me. I didn't really like any of the protagonists but thought MEW and Ewan McGregor were clear standouts with the brief time they were given. Really this film should have been titled, "The Fabulous Emancipation of Harley Quinn featuring the birds of prey" because it's a more accurate title of who is the main star of the film. I popped seeing Ali Wong in her scenes. The action was kinetic and everything was fairly colorful and bright unlike hack synder's films in the DCEU. If you're a girl or a guy (of appropriate age given the use of language and violence in this) I think it's an enjoyable film. It's not my favorite DC movie, but it's another positive step in their universe after Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and Shazam. At the very least, I want to cook myself an egg McMuffin sandwich now.

Honestly, regardless of this film's quality; its a picture that was done no favors by its trailers and TV spots.

My gf who knows nothing about DC even liked the movie I think not knowing anything about DC might make you like the movie more than being a big comics fan. Comics fans are going to expect accuracy to the source material when that's a non-issue for someone who isn't familiar with it and they can enjoy the movie for what it is.

DC got a better creative team but their marketing team isn’t anywhere near as good as the beginning of the DCEU.
Plus, and this is gonna sound terrible. But movies that are specifically marketed as “Bad ass girls kicking ass and fighting against the system” have done awful lately. It seems people don’t want this overly done girl power thing. They just want heroes and exciting action set pieces. What works as a t-shirt slogan isn’t necessarily going to sell a movie.
Wonder Woman wasn’t marketed like this was.
What sucks is that Margot Robbie put her whole ass in this one. Pretty much taking over whatever else they had planned and putting this movie together with a handpicked cast and crew. If WB lost faith in Cavill over him just being in movies people didn’t like, this has got to be a blow. The spinoff quasi sequel to a movie that made 700 million is probably going to get its doors blown off by the Sonic the hedgehog movie.

I had no real intention to go see the movie, but a friend had some passes and off we went.
It was something.
It was pretty much what I had expected of it. I wasn't a fan of it in the slightest and was actively bored by some parts. Cringed hard at a lot of the humor and parts where it was obvious someone saw the Deadpool movies.
Though I'm sure it will have its audience and if you liked it, hey, that's cool.

The trailers were abysmal. I wasn’t going to go see it because they made it look so bad. (Then the reviews convinced me)

Hmm. I suggested a Shazam! level hit, but already it seems this'll fall way short of that.
More like $200-250 mil total. Still make some money, but, the strong chance of being under Dark Phoenix of all things is really not something I expected.

Harley without Joker isn’t a draw.
She has her fans but she’s not a character made to stand on her own. Its sad but true. Especially if the movie is marketed in a way that’s trying to actively tell a portion of the audience that they don’t want their business.

That’s without mentioning Robbies acclaim/popularity and the positive reception her portrayal of Harley got and continues to get. I just think the way they presented her and this movie diluted that drawing appeal.

I really think it's mostly just on the marketing. I haven't seen a gigantic amount of ads for it and the ones I have have been uniformly terrible.

If positive word of mouth becomes a thing, I can see the movie having some lasting power vs. a strong week 1 that fizzles out in later weeks. The marketing for the movie was atrocious, but audiences that have seen it seem to like it.

Yeah, saying she doesn't draw without Joker is not accurate. Her solo comic sells well enough and has lasted quite awhile. I put the performance on the terrible trailers.

Probably more accurate to say she's a draw with comic book fans but not so much with casual movie audiences, though certainly the abysmal advertising has played its part.

Yeah, I was about to say this. While comic sales aren't exactly big money, her solo series was a massive success, she's been give multiple mini series and guest appearances, countless toys and merchandise, etc. Even if you still want to make the argument that it's because of the joker, you would have to ignore that she blew up only in the past few years, post separation, and that all of her merchandise has her wearing the Jim Lee/ Amanda Conner version of her costume that was created (once again) post breakup.

Just got back from seeing this.
I haven’t read a comic book in decades, so I definitely fall into the casual superhero movie fan demo, and to be completely honest this was just a generic comic film for me. A little bit of comedic goodness in there, but the fight scenes just felt generic and the plot was too paint by the numbers.
A couple positives Ill mention in addition to the funny parts, I really liked McGregor’s whiny temper tantrum villain. That felt fresh and him and the Zas (sp?) character had a good awkwardness dynamic. Also while I wouldn’t listen to the soundtrack straight through on a playlist, it was used incredibly well in the movie. Every song felt like it fit.
Gonna give this a vanilla 5/10 rating. Probably never watch it again through a streaming platform but didn’t hate it on the whole.
