Different takes on the character, different mediums. We've seen Bruce Wayne's that will retire once the injuries get to be too much and we've seen where he'll merely turn Gotham into a police state as well. Personally don't care one way or another, Harley has never been one of my favorite characters but I can see where people who are might not like her changes over the years. I just find her boring without The Joker, there's the Ivy thing but I've never liked that pairing either. I haven't really enjoyed anything with the Joker since Grant Morrison's run. Way too over exposed, was happy to not see him at all in the film. As for Harley, eh, I'd rather the Poison Ivy relationship if I had to pick. Her and Joker reminds me way too much of a friend of mines relationship with an ex. The emotional abuse has stuck around for a long time, so Harley's situation kind of hit home for me here.

I prefer Ivy and Harley as friends..it was nice for a few episodes of Batman: TAS but DC saw dollar signs and kept milking it to the point it prevented Ivy from doing anything of interest on her own.

Surprised the reviews are strong, not because I've seen it and disagree but more that I really wasn't won over by the trailers.
That's good that they are, but I think Warner have dropped the ball pretty bad here. It felt too much like Suicide Squad again, I don't feel they've built buzz right and the very late review embargo now means they've had little time to benefit from the positive feedback.
The smaller budget should mean it makes good money still, and a flatter opening weekend should lead to pretty good legs. But it feels like a Shazam! level of hit rather than something huge. If the film deserves that bigger level, that's a shame.

Harley is either Joker's punching bag, or Ivy's punching bag. That pretty much sums her character up.

I'd have been pissed if I stayed for the after credits 'scene'.

I loved it. Great pacing, great score, had so many moving parts that you never got sick of anyone or had any moment that dragged. Recommended. I've got a question about violence in the movie. My mom wants me to take her to it (she loves Harley Quinn, especially Margot Robbie's take on the character) but is worried a bit about the violence. Last year there was an escape attempt by some prisoners and they viciously murdered my mom's friend's son who worked there (not a guard, mind you, a mechanic). The details of the murder were recently made public and so it's very much still on everyone's minds. That said, is the violence more cartoony, or more realistic? If it's realistic or even Tarantino-esque I think we'll sit this one out for a bit. If you're worried about spoilers, please just message me your reply or put them in spoiler tags here. Sending you a PM.

If the film deserves that bigger level, that's a shame. I'd say it deserves Shazam money, but then I thought Shazam deserved more. That said though, for a modestly budgeted Feb release it'll probably do ok. I don't think this was ever expected to do like a billion dollars or whatever.

I don’t like Harley with Joker or Ivy. Get her with Bruce, it went well once before. ![](https://i.postimg.cc/FKfd7T3C/696-CB21-B-E863-4-C9-C-AEBF-D77896159495.jpg)

I'd have been pissed if I stayed for the after credits 'scene'. Is it as pointless as Fallen Kingdom's post-credit scene?

One of my favorite ways Harley is portrayed is in the Injustice games. That universe's Joker is killed by Superman and while she initially joins up with Batman's Insurgency out of wanting to avenge the Joker, she eventually becomes one of his most trusted lieutenants and the two actually develop something of a friendship. He trusts her enough where she runs the Brother Eye system out of his new Batcave. She works for and earns that trust, and while she still has her crazy side (and a brief relapse when Joker from the "main" DC universe makes his way into the Injustice universe), she ultimately does what's right. Also her I2 ending where she takes her "niece" (actually her daughter) on a playdate with Oliver and Dinah's son is really adorable.
More importantly, though, the character still acts and generally feels like an evolution of the "old" Harley rather than the wannabe Deadpool modern Harley has turned into in a lot of places.

I'd have been pissed if I stayed for the after credits 'scene'. I stayed for it and the whole theater laughed. The timing on it is perfect. The credits are also relatively short, which helps.

Yeah, the after credits thing made me laugh too. Fit the tone of the movie well.

Really I just wish Harley still bared some resemblance to Harley. The modern incarnation of the character is most just a Hot Topic knockoff of Deadpool.
Also, co-sign on finding her Poison Ivy relationship more interesting than her Joker one.

There were times I felt too sober for the movie.
Overall I enjoyed it. the portrayal of Sionis was a nice change of pace and there were some scenes that made him very unsettling (including one scene in the club... if you've seen the movie you'll know the scene).
Honestly, I wish they didn't force the Birds of Prey into the movie. I actually enjoyed each character's arc (though Huntress REALLY felt out of place) and the last third of the movie kind of lost me. But this movie could have been a complete cluster that was overall enjoyable. It felt like the movie did need another half hour to really expand on things.
Dunno if I'd say the movie deserves a sequel but I think each character that got time to shine would make good additions to future DC movies.

Here is my review. {Spoiler}I didn't like that they killed off Black Mask and Zsaz. Would've loved to have seen them again in a Batman film. The references to Joker made me wish we could've seen those interactions too.
