One thing I've noticed about the First Order. Kylo and Hux spend a lot of time just shouting and screaming. Doesn't compare that well to Tarkin, Vader or Palpatine. But the guy from Rogue One also shouted a lot so maybe it's a modern writing thing. They’re showing all the films a lot on TV recently so this occurred to me (as its been a constant complaint) and I kinda shrug it off as the FO is “more desperate”... But it’s probably just a modern thing, TBH. Cold, calculating is always more intimidating than mindless shouting but eh. Is what it is. |

I’ve been seeing the promos so much and I’m thinking my problem may not be so much with Rey the character but Daisy Ridley the actor.
She’s terrible.

JJ strongly implied that {Spoiler} Ahsoka Tano has some sort of appearance in Episode IX. That makes me so happy, I might actually tear up if that happens |

One thing I've noticed about the First Order. Kylo and Hux spend a lot of time just shouting and screaming. Doesn't compare that well to Tarkin, Vader or Palpatine. But the guy from Rogue One also shouted a lot so maybe it's a modern writing thing. I like the idea that they're the kids playing fascist dress-up trying to emulate the Empire of old, so they never quite get it right...but again, that's something I would have liked to see developed over the films, and that doesn't really seem to be happening. I know the novelization of TFA was explicit about how First Order were the angry fanboy empire. Like, Phasma’s armor was said to have been made from Sidious’ personal shuttle. I think they held back on that concept because well, the subtext behind it has lost the “sub” in recent years, hasn’t it? |
