Good read here www.sportsbusinessdaily.com/Journal/Issues/2018/07/09/Media/Media-deals.aspxLong article, however, interestingly enough, negotiation was led by Steph and H on the WWE side. Vince McMahon dumped longstanding media rights representive to go with a rival due to UFC and WWE having the same reps. Steph called Fox's executive to turn back from the airport to celebrate the closing of the deal. WWE is seen as a valuable commodity to advertisers due to its large and stable fan Base.

I still expect more to come from the WWE/Fox partnership. UFC provides an insane amount of content for FS1, and there are going to be huge holes in their weekly schedules. I expect Fox to pick up more WWE programming to start 2019, such as NXT and recap shows

How many other companies have lasted this long on the model of basically not giving the paying customers what they want? Thou with the growing amount of sections they have to tarp off, It may not be for long.

10 years from now when WWE has about 500,000 viewers, I bet we'll still be hearing how stable they are and how hardcore fans will keep watching no matter what.

To paraphase someone else in the Ratings thread, there's about 2~2.5 million people who would tune in to watch WWE even if it was just 3 hours of Vince taking a shit in the ring.

I like to imagine it went like that scene in The Office when Dundler Mifflin was trying to buy out the Michael Scott Paper Company and offered way more than expected, and then when they left the room Ryan, Michael and Pam celebrated.

Well, there’s been times, during their promos, where I thought “I’d give them a billion dollars, if they’d just stop talking.” Brilliant strategy by WWE.

WWE is "stable" in comparison to a lot of shows that have very erratic spikes and largely dwindle down by more drastic numbers. A lot of people stick around with WWE through bad episodes hoping it will be good year-round, while a four stinker run in a 24-episode drama usually signals a bit turn away. For a lot of people wrestling has been a constant fixture in their lives and they've watched it through some miserable times so they keep going even while complaining constantly. The same can't be said for other shows. It's on a downward trend, but it's a stable and slow trend. It's the right now consistency that matters, not the long-term trend.
