Beth Phoenix, but I say that with reservation because I absolutely loved Beth and her speech was fantastic.

Well in fairness, I'll take HBK over Cena and Roman any day of the week. I've never understood it myself. Was HBK good? Yes. But he, IMO, was never great. A jack of all trades, master of none. I feel like you never seen any of HBK in his prime matches. Maybe you should.

Beth Phoenix, by a long shot. If WWE hadn't neglected the women's division up until a few years ago, they would have a larger pool of women's wrestlers to choose from. I think they should have had Foley and Sammartino go in on different years. WWE tries to get a headliner every year, and those are two going in the same year. The Foley/Bruno was really a bad case of timing for Foley. Foley had already been announced as the headliner and then Bruno, after years and years of declining, actually said yes. You can't bump Foley to another year and Bruno is an obvious headliner over pretty much everyone in the company's history. Sucked for Foley that he didn't get to headline (especially with his rapid decline in faculties since that year), but he also said he was so thrilled to be in the same class as Bruno that it didn't really matter to him.

I think they spunked their load early having Foley go in not as a headliner. They should have held off on him for longer and had him at the top of a class.

He is still giving that speech, you know! Mr T would still be going if Kane didn’t end it He'd just now be getting to his great-grandparents.

To elaborate, I meant so soon. HBK just wasn't a big enough name to headline a class, and he got in way too soon. HBK could headline a HOF class twice. His career from 1988 to 1998 was worthy of headlining as well as his return from 2002-2010.

Beth Phoenix, by a long shot. This is always #1 for me. So many other women have done more, or had more memorable careers to me.

If HBK can’t headline a class, only a few people can. IMO HBK is the most overrated wrestler in WWE history. It's funny to me to see people complain that Cena and Roman are shoved down throats and overpushed, and then those same people applaud and god tier HBK. HBK changed the entire scope of pro wrestling. He pioneered the light heavyweight style that's become the norm; without Shawn Michaels you don't have a CM Punk, Hiroshi Tanahashi or AJ Styles.

If they could have gone back in time and not announced Foley, they would have done so. Obviously it's good that they didn't wait until the next Mania in New York, as otherwise Bruno wouldn't have been alive for it. So yeah

Michaels could climb into the ropes today in his late 40's and, after shaking the ring rust off, probably be better than 80% of the active roster. He'd at least be the second best seller, after Orton. There's a reason they keep asking him every year to do Wrestlemania.

So yeah I suppose the ideal thing with complete hindsight would have been to induct Sammartino and save Foley for 2019, but at the same time, people would have spent the last five years complaining about Foley not getting in when his in-ring career is clearly finished, and he's spent all this time mostly on good terms with the company.
