IMO HBK is the most overrated wrestler in WWE history. It's funny to me to see people complain that Cena and Roman are shoved down throats and overpushed, and then those same people applaud and god tier HBK. HBK changed the entire scope of pro wrestling. He pioneered the light heavyweight style that's become the norm; without Shawn Michaels you don't have a CM Punk, Hiroshi Tanahashi or AJ Styles. There are few wrestlers you could solely credit with pioneering a whole style and I don't think HBK is one of them. Certainly popularized in the West at a main event level though.

Well in fairness, I'll take HBK over Cena and Roman any day of the week. I've never understood it myself. Was HBK good? Yes. But he, IMO, was never great. A jack of all trades, master of none.

None of them. It's a worked Hall of Fame with absolutely no criteria for entrance. This is a metaphoric hill I will always fight on.

If HBK can’t headline a class, only a few people can. IMO HBK is the most overrated wrestler in WWE history. It's funny to me to see people complain that Cena and Roman are shoved down throats and overpushed, and then those same people applaud and god tier HBK. Shawn's second run really gave people rose colored glasses when it comes to his career. I remember 1996, and that shit was terrible. Shawn got booked like Roman times 10. There's a reason people look back so fondly at Sid murdering him at Survivor Series.

Since we're doing hot takes...
None of them. It's a fake criteria. Everyone that's in the HOF deserves to be in there. It's nothing more than a "thanks for working for us".

Bullet Bob Armstrong
He's in the class of legends like Mr Wrestling II, Superstar Bill Dundee, and Adrian Street that were great territory stars, but when WWE only inducts about six wrestlers a year, those guys are way off the beaten path. They inducted a bigger legend that never worked for WWE, Abdullah the Butcher, in the same year as Bob, but they could have just as easily put in another bigger star like The Destroyer, Danny Hodge, or Don Leo Jonathan. Or maybe they could have given the spot to a WWE Legend like Ivan Koloff, Ken Patera, or Spiros Arion.
I get why he went in that particular year since it was in Atlanta and WWE had just rehired a bunch of Armstrong's kids, but it was about as "meh" as can be. I don't mind if WWE inducts smaller acts that made money for their company like Koko B Ware, Hillbilly Jim, Rikishi and The Godfather. I also don't mind if WWE chooses to honor legends at the top of their field like Verne Gagne, Antonio Inoki, Gordon Solie, or Nick Bockwinkel. I do however believe Armstrong was a stretch.

He is still giving that speech, you know! Mr T would still be going if Kane didn’t end it I’m still bitter about that I loved that speech My choice is the Warrior Award inductees though it does mean I can skip that speech which when it’s a 3 and a half hour show does count for something

I would've waited more time on inducting Hillbilly Jim because he delivered the worst speech of all time...OPPORTUNITY! He is still giving that speech, you know! You know if they waited he have more time to add MORE to it.

My hot take is none of the inductees have been too soon.
In a pro sports one is eligable for the HOF 5 years after they retire, adjust that too wrestling and it would 5 year's after the last time you were a regular part of the roster and 80% of inductees have been people far removed from their peak era. The only as soon as they retired inductees have been Edge and HBK who are headliner's,which you might as well induct right away.

I think in Edge's case, having him headline right away was both a thank you job for a guy who had to retire too soon, an understanding his name value as a headline entry/main eventer probably benefited from the lack of time. Dude is one of my all-time favorites, but he was always one of those main event guys a lot of people never really saw as a main event guy. Getting him in while hew was still fresh helped maintain a sense of "It's a shame he has to retire so young, he was so great" that sold the HOF that year and let him go in in a big way rather than getting lost in the shuffle.

It is a feel good moment. I know it is all done for PR and whatnot, but it's still nice to see some of these individuals with great stories get a platform to tell it.

As terrible as some of that face HBK stuff was, at least all of that ended after 11 months

It's a Gold Watch ceremony. There really is no criteria, and it's pro wrestling, I'm not sure what the hell the criteria would be if you did it legit, because who is to say a guy like Koko B Ware, who made a bunch of guys look good, isn't a Hall of Famer?

Exactly! It's 'Thank you for what you've done for the company and/or wrestling in general. Now, take a bow'. I really don't understand why more people haven't figured this out yet.
