And as of the 32nd century the last contact humanity had with the Continuum was in the 2590s. Given time is a meaningless construct for the Continuum, do we assume that this was when Q realised there wasn't any member of the human race that he liked as much as Picard and Janeway and left humanity alone? It's not like anybody else in the Continuum had any interest. Well considering Q apparently died in S2 of Picard, I wonder who else in the Continuum would share his interest. Maybe Junior? Or the Q formerly known as Amanda Rogers? Trelane has been considered a member of the Q in some books. Also Charlie X could be as well?

Well considering Q apparently died in S2 of Picard, I wonder who else in the Continuum would share his interest. Maybe Junior? Or the Q formerly known as Amanda Rogers? Remember, time isn't linear for the Q. Q chose to "die" in 2401, but he could be present for events after that because the linear timestream hasn't arrived at a point where he dropped by. Hell, technically speaking, Q's "death" actually took place in 2024, since the effort in transporting Picard, Seven, and Raffi back to 2401 and resurrecting Elnor is what did him in, so from a linear standpoint he was dead centuries before he ever met Picard. And now I have a headache.

My god, I f***ing love Shaw. He's such a catty bitch. "Oh, and, um, as a courtesy, because of the harrowing ordeal that we all survived together, I'm gonna step outside so the three of you can get your bullshit story straight."
- "Do you mind?" - "Oh. Sorry. Just feeling chipper. Not because you're about to have your asses handed to you. No. Just... chipper."
- "You know, we have saved the galaxy more than a few times." - "And hopefully they'll remember." - "Or they might remember that time that someone hot-dropped the saucer section of the Enterprise-D on a planet. Or that time that someone threw the Prime Directive out the window so they could snog a villager on Ba'ku. Or the time that you boys nearly wiped out all of humanity by creating a time paradox in the Devron system. Basically, when it comes to rescues from danger you two have a real chicken-and-egg thing happening."He’s turned into such a great character, I’d totally be down for a Shaw spinoff

And basing a show around a Captain who has zero interest in being a hero, or a legend, he just wants to do his f***ing job and go home could be great because there are so many places you can go with it.

Would be a way to keep Starfleet in Star Trek. And if Seven sticks around that could be his counterpoint.
Him, Seven, and Ensign LaForge are already building blocks for a cast.

He'd be doing the grunt work stuff of captains.

Here's a guy, a dipshit from Chicago, who doesn't really want to be doing all this captain stuff, but he has an almost crippling case of survivor's guilt and pushes himself to do as much as he can because he left behind friends who never got the chance to do so. He'd really be happier at home tuning up engines or something, but who has time for happiness when the ghosts of 11,000 people remind you how lucky you are to even be alive? Damn, I need that show.

In a way, he's like Scotty with PTSD. Maybe he's also just Captain by rank but really never wanted to be nothing more than an engineer. Only his fate gave him a harder pill to swallow than anything Scotty went through (Yes, Scotty lost friends and even a nephew if you know about Wrath of Khan's deleted scenes, but nothing like Wolf 359).

Exactly. You can play around with the more comedic, mundane aspects of being a Captain but at the end of the day Shaw is an insanely broken man that can easily carry the dramatic weight of the series. We really need this show now

There's also never really been a show with an outright hostile relationship between Captain and First Officer. Tension, sure, but the closest was Kira and Sisko in DS9 season 1 and that lasted for maybe 5 episodes? Not counting the episode where space funny gas turns the entire crew against each other except Odo.

Gotta say, they're pointing heavily towards my weird prediction after the LAST episode, to the point I'm thinking that's a red herring now.

I'm really curious what's going on with Jack. Is he some Changeling or Synthetic? I hope they don't pull a bait-and-switch with him and Picard's relationship. But yeah give us a spinoff with Shaw, Seven, Rafi and Jack.

My current thought is {Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}I think they've done this with Skrulls in Marvel, or somewhere in the geeky world, but using DNA to make some kind of hybrid, so it IS a changeling but also IS Jack and the Jack half is more dominant, could do a re-merging somehow so at the end theres 1 human Jack that has still gone through all this character development

There's also never really been a show with an outright hostile relationship between Captain and First Officer. I feel like the tricky balance they've been getting pretty well with Shaw so far, is keeping things at a believable "you're an asshole but I can still keep things professional" level. I'm feeling like it would be very easy to take the "hostile relationship between captain and FO" and turn it into something so toxic that it'd really stretch the willing suspension of disbelief re: why isn't one of them trying to transfer or why aren't higher ups trying to separate them, if that made any sense. Granted, Trek has always kind of had a difficult time writing antagonistic Starfleet officers that were just of the "not someone you'd want to do shots of Romulan ale with" variety, versus Insane Admiral #2,239. Really the only TNG-era example I can think of is Jellico.
