The entire Kate Winslet hosted SNL episode from 2004 has never seen the light of day since, as far as I know What was the controversy there, I've never heard of this one.

That's the funny part: I have no clue. Like, I know that they reference the Ashley Simpson lip sync from the week before, and Winslet apparently didn't love hosting, but neither of those things would be reason to Benoit the episode

The "Springfield's Most Wanted" special aired before the premiere showing of Part 2 of "Who Shot Mr. Burns?" But, I'm sure it's out there on YouTube. It's on the Simpsons season 7 DVD box set. I have it.

The Chris Farley hosted SNL has never aired again - he was so messed up on drugs that night, and Lorne has since said (especially after his death) he could never allow it to be seen out of respect for Farley. Farley died less than 2 months after this, FYI. Though I am surprised to see that NBC.com has a few clips of it up, including the cold open where Lorne wonders if Farley's in any condition to host (played for laughs, I'm sure, though there's a scary reality to it now). That's.........surprising to see out there, especially since that was the nature of the cold open. I remember after 9/11, the Simpsons episode, "The City of New York vs. Homer Simpson" hadn't aired on first-run syndication for the longest time. It did come on the DVD set, and at some point, I believe FXX has aired it at some point. I assume the Osama Bin Laden airport cameo in an early Family Guy qualifies like this one too, yes? (Hell, wouldn't be shocked if Seth MacFarlane just flat out banned it himself, considering his personal "had I made that flight, I'd have died on one of those planes" connection.)

The Robot Chicken sketch involving the Archie characters in a parody of Final Destination (this is back when Archie comics wanted their characters to be 105% clean-cut teenagers, long before stuff like Riverdale or Afterlife with Archie).
The original version of The Drew Carey episode where Mimi prepares to meet the King of Poland (complaints from Polish-Americans caused them to cut that subplot out)
And of course, numerous shows which used licensed music has the music either replaced or (if the music is important to the plot and cant be cut) the episode is removed entirely.

It was banned on reruns...but it's intact on one of the compilation DVDs. Think same held true for the JFK Pez gag. But the "You've Got A Lot To See" with the WTC intact and the GWB picture made it back to TV.

Top Gear's tribute to Ayrton Senna was only shown once due to the cost of the Formula One footage. All the repeats cut that segment out.
Similarly, Dave never repeat the episode featuring Hammond's drag racing crash.

That Christian Bale answering machine thing and a political figure talking on a bus. They aired them as they were fresh, just a voice over existing video, so it was easy, but never saw them again.

Makes me wonder if they were meant to be there originally, or if they inserted just before the episode made it to air to be topical. Any time difference that would give that away?

Or the scene is. As is customary of, say, CBS DVD to do. Makes me wonder now.....as I don't watch it, really, which prints of WKRP does MeTV use? The totally edited for syndication ones, or the remastered ones by Shout Factory? (uncensored KRP was rare since the 90s, actually!) Don't know...since a lot can be found online, maybe this should have a sub-topic "Things lost to 'official' media"?

Similarly, Dave never repeat the episode featuring Hammond's drag racing crash. The BBC (as far as I’m aware) never repeated the episode after the week it aired, it’s also not on Netflix/Amazon either. They did at the time make a deal during the episode that they’d discuss it there but that would be the only discussion they’d ever have on it. Although they make a few references to it here and there, the footage hasn’t been shown since.

And of course, the Nas video for "Hate Me Now" which had Puff Daddy on the cross. Aired ONE time, Puff got REALLY mad, and has never been seen since. Speaking of cut music videos, the Roots video for "What They Do" was a satire of rap video tropes, with snarky captions on screen. The "official" video on Vevo has none of the captions. Ironically, the Tesla video "Need Your Lovin", made by the same director and mocking rock video cliches, still does have the captions on the Vevo version.

I believe they slammed them in to be topical. The bus thing aired like the same week that tape came out.

Readily available on YouTube I'm sure, but the Benoit Tribute show. The original ending to Michael Jackson's Black or White as well?

So edited to crap. So happy I grabbed the fully uncut series at a con back in the early 2000s. Sure SumGuy wanted a bit too much, but it was worth it.

Isn't there a Pokemon episode that aired once in Japan and hasn't since then. IIRC it caused seizures.
The Sinead SNL thing...That happened back when I was recording SNL each week. I held onto that tape for a long time. And was one of the first of my tapes I transferred to DVD-R.
IIRC the second part of the Beavis and Butthead episode "Way down Mexico way" only aired one time. I had it on a VHS for years. But got rid of the tape once I got the King Turd collection.

Contrary to this thread, there's only one SNL episode that wasn't ever re-run, and that was the one Milton Berle hosted and just did not get the concept at all, inc;uding going into unscripted tantrums on air.
