I recall Comics Only, Viva Variety and Almost Live being on in the earlier days of Comedy Central. Almost Live was a sketch comedy show from Seattle and it was funnier than SNL and SCTV. Bill Nye was a cast member on Almost Live and had a character called Speed Walker where he was a super hero who went after villains by speed walking after them.

I remember our Cable Company got Comedy Central added to the package in early 1997. Right before South Park debuted, they had Win Ben Steins Money, SNL and Kids in the Hall Reruns. I also caught The Critic, Ab Fab, and Bob and Margret. I would occasionally get home after school and catch British Whose Line.

They had a show called Short Attention Span Theater that did just that, show various comedy clips (both from CC shows, as well as clips from other tv shows and movies), all put together by a theme (ie, all Christmas-related clips, all clips from SNL, etc). Also, the host was a young Marc Maron (of GLOW fame). Aisha Tyler ended up being a host on SAST too, right? I wanna say she did this a bit before she took over hosting Talk Soup.
