I saw a bit of Seth when he first took the mask off personally. Yeah, I am like 90% sure that's the rules. Lucha rules specify that once an identity is exposed, he can’t used that gimmick ever again and must keep on wrestling under his real name. Since King Cuerno is property of LU I’m not sure how that works in Mexico or if he can be KC there. There is a loophole in which Jorge Luis Alcántara could use the mask again in Mexico, he would need his father El Fantasma to unmask and renounce the gimmick and give it to his son, he would then be allowed to wrestle under a mask again and then be known as El Fantasma. That’s why Rey Mysterio got to wrestle under a mask again despite losing it on wcw, his uncle Rey Mysterio Sr, renounced the gimmick and allowed Rey to use it, that’s also why he dropped Jr from his name. I thought also part of the Rey thing was he was Rey Misterio Sr/Jr and not Mysterio. |

That’s when his uncle renounced the gimmick and unmasked thereby making his nephew Rey Mysterio. |

The only thing he can't do is wrestle as Hijo del Fantasma with a mask again.
He still can use the name and gimmick and use a different character

Yeah, I was going to say, I'm pretty sure they're allowed to keep using their ring name as off the top of my head I don't recall previously unmasked luchadores ever completely reverting to their non-gimmick, RL names.

A luchador must never wear the mask of a gimmick he lost, though the rule is only enforced by Mexico's commission.
They'll give workarounds for some situations though.
E.g. SuperFly lost his mask in AAA but was allowed to wear in for a few more weeks in LU (taped in America) so they could write him an unmasking.
Rey was mostly allowed to slip through the loophole because the commission were pissed at WCW
Psicosis has put his mask back on a few times but I'm not sure how he gets around it.

This definitely feels to me like another instance of someone losing the mask and having their career really take off without it. Maybe it’s because I didnt like the design of his mask (or the King Cuerno mask for that matter), but I always thought he’d probably have a better look without it. Mask + trunks has been a weird combination for me as well. It just looks better for some reason with full tights or a singlet.

You know how in WCW they played up the "OMG he's so ugly" shit when they did it with Rey and Juvi but what you clearly have is two dudes who can walk up and leave with your wife if they wanted
