Whenever you're playing a particular game, did you ever mute it and just blast your own music? I did that for Altered Beast & any of the Mortal Kombat games because the music got stuck in my head and gave me nightmares when I was younger. Nowadays it doesn't give me nightmares but it still bothers the Hell outta me so I still mute the games.

Yep, but it backfires for me sometimes, because I identify a certain game with a certain CD. Like I can't play my Dynasty Warriors 5 without having REM playing in some form.

I don't even have to mute the games on the 360....just start my custom soundtrack, and it will play louder than the in game music/sounds.

Depends on the game. MMORPGs, yeah, I have my own music. I still keep it low since I'm typically in ventrilo talking to my friends, especially if we're grouping.

I can't do it. I like to have the sound effects and everything, I feel you're missing out on so much if you do that.

If it's a dialogue heavy game or something where you have to be able to hear, then I won't bother with music, but with a beat 'em up game or something with mostly text based dialogue, I'm all about turning on some music.

The only games I really do it on are VPW2 and No Mercy when playing them on my PC. VPW2 needs some epic ass music to make it as good as it can be.

It really depends on the game. If I'm playing Shadow of the Colossus or Legend of Zelda then no, because the music is part of the gameplay. If I'm playing Smackdown Vs. Raw then yes, because the music doesn't do anything for me.

Yeah, some games need the music/sound effects for you to get the total effect.
Others, like sports or wrestling games, don't need it.

I also do it to Final Fantasy whenever I go into one of those "Leveling Up" periods because I can only listen to the battle theme repeatedly so many times.

I only really do it for games where the music doesn't really matter, like Tony Hawk or Smackdown, but for games like Grand Theft Auto, Zelda, Resident Evil, I kinda need to be immersed in the whole thing...
Grand Theft Auto, for me at least, kinda forces you to listen to the music, especially in Vice City and San Andreas... it just ups the mood so much...

I couldn't play GTA without the music in the game playing. I need to have songs on the radio. In GTA:LCS there is this station that I would listen to alot called Radio Del Mundo. Its an Indian music station that I put on while I kill people here or there. The songs sound funny.
