I'm not getting into the "are they punk only op ivy are punk armstrong sold out writing songs for Pink" crap...I've always considered them superb songwriters..punk or not.
I don't have the first self titled or Life Wont Wait..
But I consider Rancid's 2000 self titled one of the few 5 ***** albums I've ever heard.
Lets Go! and Out Come The Wolves were fantastic...Indestructable was great in parts but had some weak/unmemorable moments.
(Waits patiently for the handful of posters who feel they have to crap all over whatever they dont like to appear.)

My favourite is definitely ...And Out Come the Wolves. I dunno, just something about it is solid and great.

...And my patience paid off. I would've bet money on that happening exactly the way it did. Poster and all.

I guess it's all about which type punk you prefer.
Rancid 2000 was as close to a hardcore album as they have ever done..and to combine one of my very favorite genres with Rancids songwriting makes me a very happy man.
Like I said..out of the thousand or so Cd's I've ever owned...this is one of the maybe 20 I'd give 5 stars.

I dunno, I bought "Indestructible" on a whim after hearing Rancid on the radio for years. I really, really liked it. I got their self-titled 2000 album next, followed by the official Operation Ivy compilation CD, and then a friend burned ...And Out Come The Wolves. I though AOCTW was really good, and I thought the 2000 album was pretty good as well, but I like Indestructible the best. I like how it blends punk and ska throughout the album, and I'm not really a big ska fan either.
