It almost seems like they can't decide what Vought is. They've got the Vought News Network which is clearly a parody of right wing news networks. Then they got the Vought movie universe which is a parody of Marvel. However, they also have a musical about putting the Christ back in Christmas while simultaneously refuting Go Woke, Go Broke at the movie convention. Granted the company is reaching out to minorities in the most sickening cynical way as we saw, but it still seems odd. It feels like they're pulling a Bendis or Moffatt and just making Vought alter itself to fit whatever the current plot is about even if that is completely contradictory.

Disney is a company that owns Marvel but also essentially owns the UFC through their media rights and employs Pat McAfee, who paid Aaron Rodgers to go on air and talk about X Y and Z. They don't own a right wing news network, but I could see a company being that flexible given what Disney has in its portfolio.

Vought is a company that has been able to grow to the level it's been able to expand into damn near everything in the most insidious way, and with Vought having control over nearly every super from the start there was never any serious threat to prevent them growing to that point. there are multiple businesses in the real world who have their fingers in really unexpected places, look at amazon and how they have "diversified their portfolio" buying other companies like MGM studios, Twitch and so on and more. and are trying to expand into the games industry with their own gaming division where they're either making their own games or beginning to publish games for other companies (they're publishing the next Tomb Raider game when it comes out.). the mega corporations of sci fi/fiction aren't only just being built, they've been around a while in plain sight.

I can see what those are saying its not seemed itself in parts. I caught up with all the episodes this week and episode 5 at the farm seemed like The Boys. And yeah it’s funny for those only just realising they’ve been the butt of the joke all this time but the obviousness does takes away a bit as you’re reminded that it’s not that outlandish anymore
It’s been enjoyable but think the 5 series plan is perfect to ensure it doesn’t run out of juice

We definitely ate seeing megacorps forming and there are fewer and fewer real choices every day, it's just that the Disney's of the world don't always use their name. I think that might be my hangup. A lot of bigger corporations will often keep the names of things they absorb. In Canada for example there are 3 grocery chains that own 90% of the grocery stores, but you wouldn't know it if you just look at the names. Meanwhile, vought has their hands in everything but they're still just bought. I guess Amazon would be the closest analogue.

Even having 1 part be biochemicals and the rest media makes sense when you think about stuff like Gulf & Western, basically a mining and manufacturing company owned Paramount Studios so even things that don't logically go together, if there's money they do.

I'm enjoying the Homelander and Butcher storylines. But this Vought vs Starlight stuff is SO hamfisted. It's barely satire. It's just surface level political commentary. That's why even the dumb people are now realising they are being made fun of. Because the show is blaring giant red flashing letters like "LOOK ITS YOU! THIS CHARACTER REPRESENTS YOU! WE ARE MOCKING YOU!". So quite literally even an idiot can understand. It's reddit-level wit. But for what it's worth it hasn't been boring. Better then most things out at the moment. The political satire especially is basically just real world upsetting stuff quoted verbatim but with a cape on, so it makes it but unsettling to watch for me. The farm sequence however gave me some much needed laughs, and I lost it at Old Macdonald Had a Farm.

Am watching the start of episode 6 and {Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}so far it's Sameer, Kessler and Butcher in wherever they're hiding Sameer at, but every time Kessler speaks, Sameer doesn't react to him or anything he's saying at all. Guess that confirms that.

That ep was even grosser than the Herogasm one.

Glad that was where they did the reveal, any more would have been silly That was a hell of a watch for Monday morning.

It’s staring to feel repetitive to me. You can only play the gross out and plot twist route so many times.
Edit: and when does Homelander get his comeuppance? This is reaching WCW Vince Russo kind of frustrating. Just let him have it already.

It does feel like the writers have been seeing what they can get away with after the Herogasm episode at the expense of plot development. We got it all crammed into the last 5 minutes and it was mostly the twist people had already predicted. And yeah, the double standard when it comes to male SA is still prevalent. Cool.

Honestly all of your points are part of that, but man Homelander repeatedly getting away with BS has been a chore. If they last season isn't just a series of beatdowns on that man somehow then I don't know how to justify it really.

Abs much like Russo, it will probably end up in “Oh, we had the kryptonite all along lulz”

The problem with trying to gross everyone out is you have to keep topping yourself at the expense of the actual plot.
At this point I almost want to skip past this dumb shit but I'm starting to realize there isn't much else going on.

Yeah, this season has been a significant drop in meaningful plot even in comparison to last season. I wonder if they did this on purpose to push Amazon's hand in giving them an official end date. Now that they have it, I assume next season will get moving quickly again. Hopefully anyway.

I think the main point of this season has been to force the Homelander fans into realising he is not the hero they thought he was and that yes the show has been taking the piss out of them since episode one.
they really laid it on thick this season to rub it in.

Yeah I'm feeling like they have an end goal in sight now but they're just meandering until they can get to it. It's a bit disappointing.

It's meandering, but pieces are getting into place, Homelander's coup, the virus, Butcher's breakdown, Stan Edgar is out there somewhere. The Boys are all completely broken in 1 way or another. A-Train's attempting a face turn, Sage is an awesome addition.
Not perfect but there's a lot going on still.
