Simple enough concept. What matches are just better versions of a different gimmick match? The connections can be direct, or more abstract. Knock yourself out.
The Ladder (or TLC, either or) match is better than Scaffold matches. You still go high up, and still have the element of danger, but wrestlers can actually work with it instead of being crippled with fear. For the danger, they are still less ludicrously dangerous, and the matches don't all really suck.
X out of X match (2 out of 3, most commonly) is a better version of Ironman matches, to me. You don't have the crowd watching the clock, knowing most of the match hardly matters, that it's just going to come down to the last minute or two. You still have an ordeal that has wrestlers needing to pace themselves and play the long game, but with no clock to detract.

Ladder matches are the superior version of X on a Pole matches. You still have to climb up something to get an object, but the former has better quality matches, and don't that Russo stink like the latter.

Overall Hell in a Cell is better than a standard cage match, both as a feud ender and for stopping interference. There's a lot more you can do with the cell too. That being said, I can't remember the last great Hell in a Cell match. Or cage, for that matter.

The Royal Rumble match is the best Battle Royal-type match.

The Elimination Chamber is a better form of the 6 man Hell in a Cell they had at Armageddon 2000.

ECW’s 3 and 4 way dances are better then Triple threat or fatal fourways.
With the dances you dont have to keep breaking up pins. If a guy gets pinned, one less thing to worry about.
Plus they make title matches infinitely better. When Jericho was the first man eliminated in the inaugural dance for the TV title everyone popped because they knew they were getting a new champion.
