It should be pointed out that, according to the latest slew of “they’re canceling everything!” outrage-mongers, libraries are apparently not allowed to clear older, less popular books out of their collection to preserve shelf space, publishing companies are not allowed to let any books that have ever been published ever go out of print, and now directors are not allowed to cut scenes and edit their movies to meet a runtime goal.
Also, these same people have historically hated furries, but now want giant anthro rabbit boobas and will go to hentai boorus and share content from them on national news to make their argument.
“Why yes,” they then say, “you must take us seriously, lest you prove you don’t believe in freeze-peach. No, we are not cranks, why on Earth do you ask?”

Should be said again, from what the article says, this was likely the plan because it’s a scene that was done by the old director before they brought a new director in because it doesn’t fit their vision for the film. The fact it happens to involve Pepe Le Pew is likely a massive coincidence. I kinda hoped someone will say that. I am almost to the point where people should silently do such things in fact. Just so I don't have to hear about the CC words.

So, they can’t just come up with some different stories to tell with Pepe instead? That seems way more fair than just shelving the poor guy altogether, especially for those who are still a fan of the character and might be open to something fresh that uses him. Seems like a wasted opportunity.

Seems like a wasted opportunity. They probably will...as someone said they used a toned down version of him anyway lately. The cut scene really isn't for kids too, or borders on it. Anyway, Flower is better :-)

And now the woke mob is coming for Pepe Le Pew: link The live-action scene was filmed by the pic’s first director, Terence Nance. Oh cool, nothing of value was lost, then. What, did he do something too? Or...?

I saw his movie, An Oversimplification of Her Beauty, at a film festival I was press at. It was pretty terrible. A pretty pretentious take on a guy who seems genuinely bad at relationships. So bad in fact, the spectacle came from the cinema emptying to the point where 95% of the critics were there didn’t last until the end. If you watch that movie and then remember he left due to creative differences...let’s just say nobody should be surprised.

I can't help but feel the people bemoaning the loss of a rapist skunk and bunnyboobs would be whining about no longer being able to see minstrel shows on TV in decades past. Society changes for the better, idiots have always fought against social progress and probably always will.

Call me optimistic, but I'd guess there's some who, simply, don't like their cheese moved (i.e. when things change from what they remember from their childhoods or whatever)

Look at Dr Seuss, people who care oh so much are adult males making a big show of reading books that are still in print and are in no danger of any sort of 'cancelling'. Outrage merchants and culture warriors will latch on to any and all change in the hope they can get the few people who actually are nostalgic for the size of a cartoon rabbit's boobs to give them their money, or will keep an open mind to the rest of their ghastly agenda.

They want us to forget the original while they clearly turned Pepe into a dog!

I never said the ones who just don't like change (in a non political way) were the majority here, mind you.

Back in the late 90's/early 00's, when Cartoon Network would still show classic Looney Tunes, they temporarily removed Speedy, worried about showing stereotypes, and it was the Latino fanbase who wrote in and said, you better bring him back.
