Wow... you get the feeling Disney - friggin’ DISNEY - was not prepared for the hype? It’s the same shot plastered onto merchandise. You’d think after Toy Story and Frozen, Disney might be prepared for a ground swell of demand. But apparently not.

They definitely haven't got a good record when it comes to figuring out the demand for Star Wars merch.

Star Wars stuff hasn’t been too popular as of late so they haven’t made as much merch as they use to. They didn’t see The Mandalorian getting anywhere near this popular. I expect to see more and more new products flooding the market. Disney has to be kicking themselves because I’m sure they would’ve loved to have gotten more items out before Christmas.

Disney f***ing up on Mando merch when people like myself are dying to give our hard earned money is somehow comical and appropriate.

That looks like some shit from one of those sites that’ll put whatever you want onto shirts and mugs and shit. Disney f***ed up.

Maaaan, freaking ETSY stores have prepared better for this than these fools. They're making WWEShop look competent. That's how bad this is!

I have a Boba Fett tattoo with the phrase "My backpack's got jets."
Depending on how the rest of the series plays out, I'm talking to my tattoo artist about getting a matching piece on my other arm that says "I gotta get one of those."

Funny, they released a small teaser for Rise of Skywalker just days after this episode dropped, primarily featuring Stormtroopers using jet packs.

Werner Herzog is the hero we don't deserve.

Werner Herzog is the hero we don't deserve. I am 100% reading that in Werner Herzog's voice and it is glorious.

The article doesn't mention how the study works. Reading elsewhere it seems to be based on social media hits. Parrot Analytics own site talks about "demand expressions." *looks at Baby Yoda everywhere* Well yeah. I mean the real number is Disney+ subs/views of The Mandalorian, but Parrot Analytics doesn't have that info. One assumes both metrics are doing well though, since it is a Star Wars TV show with great word of mouth.

The highlight of the episode for me was definitely the set up with the Baby Yoda unscrewing the top of the lever. The way that carried through the episode was just masterfully done.

I've only seen two episodes so far so I'm not going to be in here for too long so I'm just popping in here to say this;
The Star Wars theme is iconic as all hell. The Mandalorian theme is quite possibly the best piece of Star Wars music ever. Christ, that thing is phenomenal.

Also has anyone brought up the irony of Oberyn Martell playing a guy who never takes his helmet off?

Can’t recall where I read it, but supposedly the Mandalorian team got Disney to wait until the first season was finished before they’d release merch, as to avoid spoilers. Wouldn’t be shocked if this was true, considering their recent luck with merch. There’s still Solo stuff rotting on the shelves with Jason Jordan and Adam Rose figures. Seeing if their new show was going to succeed or not before launching a huge toy wave seems a smart, conservative move.
