I've re-watched that episode 3 times now. Still hasn't gotten old. Can we live an an alternate universe where Jon and Dave co-directed/wrote the sequel trilogy instead? Like, I'll admit, there was a lot I liked about the sequels. Loved Rey, Poe (especially Poe), Ben Solo's redemption and fight at the end of Rise, but it feels like these two have more respect for the material and the fandom. They know what the audience missed about the old EU (Thrawn, Boba Fett alive, Dark Troopers, etc.) and blends them into new and exciting material.

Vince hasn’t even heard of Star Wars Boba Fett debuted about 40 years ago so Vince just watched Empire Strikes Back last year. Vince is still wondering when Buster Crabbe is gonna show up.

Honestly, Vince seems like the sort of guy who’d see Episode 1 and only remember the Jar-Jar bits.
It would explain his idea of comedy.

Well, that was probably the most captivating piece of Star Wars that I've seen in a long time. {Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}Yeah, I popped when Sasha Banks hit Boba Fett with that jetpack assisted Tornado DDT.
Even though they showed many clues as to the identity of the Jedi, I still wasn't sure if they'd swerve us or not until they finally showed his face.
And speaking of his face, that CGI wasn't too bad. Pretty much on par with what we saw in Rogue One, although with this one Mark Hamill actually provided the voice.
I wonder if R2-D2 recognized Grogu, since R2 has never had its memory erased and would most likely have been at the Jedi Temple around the time Grogu was there.
I do like how they didn't touch too much on Bo-Katan's reaction to Din holding the Dark Sabre. Sure, she'll probably eventually challenge Din for it, but we don't know how she'll go about it.
And of course I'm excited about Boba Fett's series. I laughed when it was revealed that Bib Fortuna succeeded Jabba, and then immediately get iced by Boba. Also, I'm pretty sure Bib dropped a "Maklunkey" during that scene.
Finally, this episode was titled The Rescue. That is highly fitting. Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni have rescued this franchise.

It definitely had an Uncanny Valley quality to it, though I've read that they didn't use CGI de-aging and instead used DeepFake so I'll reserve further judgement on it.
I definitely read the scene as R2 remembered Grogu, and vice-versa. Hard to imagine it any other way.

I adored that episode. {Spoiler}{SPOILER}As soon as I saw that X-Wing appear, I thought it was Luke. Then I caught glimpses of the ROTJ style clothing, the green lightsaber, the glove—all confirming it. Yet I still screamed when Luke took his hood down. And R2!! Despite how happy I was to see Luke though, the part of the episode that got me the most was seeing Mando say goodbye to baby yoda. The way he took his helmet off and Grogu touched his face... I love the bond between Din and Grogu and they need to reunite for S3. Pedro Pascal has been amazing throughout this season.

So this season has now rescued Boba Fett and Luke after the damage done to them in other movies.
Odds on them turning Jar Jar into a compelling character at some point?

Don’t set John and Dave up for failure like that! No one can save Jar Jar. His fate in that one book did have some tragic beauty to it

A perfect summary of the last 15 minutes: Also Giancarlo Esposito is the f***ing best: I was watching Night On Earth earlier this week and it's such a trip to see Giancarlo's earlier work where's he usually this livewire comedic character and now he's just the most evil person in the world. I did like how Moff has become more emotive, even a little sassy, rather than just Gus Fring In Space.

Can they just make this it's own separate continuity? Like, not worry about how jar jar abrams version is gonna fit into this.

{Spoiler}{SPOILER: } Watching Luke cut through those Dark Troopers was so awesome. That's the Luke that we got from the EU books and it was so refreshing to see at the end.
The way that was done was so masterful. You went from excited to see Luke show up and then you were absolutely wrecked to see Grogu go with Luke.

I get the sequel dislike and all that but I don't want them de-canonized just because this show is better. hell if the f***ing prequals survived being canon then the sequels can to.

That’s my stance on it to be honest. If both Clone Wars, Rebels etc can come from the prequels, I’m honestly sure someone can get stuff from these new movies, especially since the sequel trilogy is honestly way more isolated from the rest of the universe in some ways than the prequels were.
