{Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}So yeah, all y'all that didn't pick the rats from that "Pick Two to Defend You" meme a while back? This film is proof of concept why you will lose.

I'm so thrilled with this movie, it was such a good, fun time, beautiful in it's sickness. I hope it puts to rest any thought of DC releasing an Ayer Cut of the first movie. {Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}The fact that they got me to actually sympathize with Rick Flag, one of the worse, most useless goddamn characters in the first movie, shows how good the movie is.

I'm usually the first person to find flaws in beloved new movies, but this was absolutely fantastic. It was everything I could ever want in one movie. My only complaint is the previously mentioned problem of a certain someone not being there at a certain fight. It wouldn't have worked for the movie, but a throwaway line could have fixed it in 5 seconds. {Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}I was half expecting either Superman or Batman's very recognizable hand grabbing Waller's hand before she hit the buttons, kinda like how they did the Superman bit in Shazam. Batman probably made the most sense since he could probably just sit there and coordinate with the team, since he couldn't get there in time, but then it opens up the can of worms of how you pull that off.
And I love the continuing story of Harley coming into her own and the whole "I'm recognizing Red Flags and taking care of them my own way" speech was awesome to see. I really love how this and BoP turned me around on her character, and Robbie in general.

That was a good time. I'm not usually impressed by Gunn's Marvel work, but he suits this franchise very well. {Spoiler}{Spoiler}I love how absolute zero fs were given about how ridiculous some of the characters were and they trusted the audience to roll with it. It also demonstrated a sensible 'groundedness' in some moments too, and not in the 'woe is me' style seen in Snyder's films. Best arc duties are shared by just about everyone as they all had something for you to invest in, find heart-warming, comic, tragic etc.
A few complaints is that, other than How Harley's 'romance' went and figuring out her purpose with the Javelin, which amounted to just 'do the right thing' in the end, there isn't much else the character does that requires them to be there other than audience familiarity,. Also they wasted Capaldi, and Waller doesn't get to do much, and only blows one of the Squad up. I did like that she got her come-uppance though, and I'm curious that they don't exactly show what happened to the one who twatted her when we rejoin the team
So did the press say the Peacemaker series was a prequel to hide the fact he makes it out of the movie alive at the very end? I'm glad it will be a direct follow-on, prequels rarely land with me

The Suicide Squad, in one word: Seriously, I think this might be the best DCEU film I have seen yet. It's everything ridiculous and over-the-top that I expected from Gunn and from the Suicide Squad as a movie and as a concept. So much fun, but almost so much heart. I laughed, I was repulsed, and my heart was warmed. I saw it on HBO Max, but this definitely needs to be seen on the big screen.

Say what you will about the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut movement, at least that was a campaign for Snyder to have the last word on the big screen Justice League, even if it sets up about five sequels that will never happen. Coming after this movie, the most David Ayer can hope for is to prove that his movie wasn't as bad as the theatrical version, and no one is coughing up however many millions to finish that.

She is so damn good in the role. This movie was so damn good and fun. I loved it! I know Gunn has said he's probably done with the superhero genre after GOTG Vol. 3 but I hope DC/WB can talk him into making another Suicide Squad movie down the line. I want to see more of these characters. I know Peacekeeper is getting his on show, but I need to see more Bloodsport, Shark, and Rat Catcher as well. {Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}I was so sad when Polka Dot Man was killed. Loved him too.

Margot Robbie is the best, I'd pretty much watch anything if it had her take of Harley Quinn in it. I'm probably going to rewatch it again this weekend, now that I know more of what to expect.
Rated R movies always range so differently, I'm never sure how intense it's going to be until I start it, so I was kind of overwhelmed by this one at times haha

Saw the film yesterday.. really liked it.. a bit too long, but a fun time. One thing though {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}Suffers from that thing DC comics media have been questioned about forever When Starro is loose and attacking the city, and letting loose little Starro’s to make everyone into zombies… this might be when Superman might want to step in here. I mean he is alive during the events of this film right? The attack got news coverage… {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}Maybe he’s offworld. And I guess the Justice League were off doing Justice League stuff. {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}I assume he was in the ICU from the Kryptonite bullet they mentioned bloodsport shot at the beginning. Really cool film. Damn, James Gunn is such a talent. The fact he got you to care about Ratcatcher II and Polka Dot Man... It's pretty crazy what happens when a talented cast and crew get together and the studio doesn't interfere. Like you could tell the original Suicide Squad with all it's licensed music was the studio trying to make a James Gunn movie. Whatever David Ayer did, the studio interfered and it was just a mess. Then because of fate, James Gunn comes along and shows them how to do it. I'm hoping if Margot Robbie does HQ one more time James is writing the script and directing.

So, is this a sequel to the previous movie or a reboot? It’s a sequel the same way Wrath Of Khan was to Star Trek: The Motion Picture. Does it expect you to have a basic understanding of the core concept? Yes. Does it require you to have seen the previous one? Not really.

I'm so thrilled with this movie, it was such a good, fun time, beautiful in it's sickness. I hope it puts to rest any thought of DC releasing an Ayer Cut of the first movie. I would really like them to release Ayer’s cut. Not only because I really enjoy seeing different versions of movies, but we know an Ayer cut actually exists. It was shown at test screenings. They wouldn’t need to throw money at it to film more stuff for like Zack Snyder required for Justice League.

I still haven't seen ZSJL yet but I guarantee this is better simply because it's just under half the run-time. F a 4 hour movie.
