I was thinking about Ready to Rumble for some reason. Why is it that arguably the two biggest names in WCW, Hogan and Flair, didnt appear in it? You had most of the rest of the roster (even Sting and Savage), so if you're making a film about WCW, why not have them involved too? Heck, Hogan would probably appear if just to have another film on his filmography.

Knowing WCW it was probably written into Hogan's contract that if they ever made a film and he was to appear he would receive 100% of the box office gross

Weren't both Hogan & Flair a bit on the outs with WCW at the time of filming (fall 1999), meaning they weren't available?

I assume Hogan was busy touring with Metallica.

Yeah, Russo came in and immediately wrote them off TV, and they didn't return until Russo was sent home at the start of 2000. I believe Bischoff was supposed to be in the movie before he was sent home in September 1999.

Hogan wouldn't put over Jimmy King so Sinclair booked a finish where Hogan just laid down and King pinned him, then Sinclair called Hogan a bald son of a bitch and then Hogan left for real.
I believe Flair was buried in the desert at the time of filming

According to IMDB, Bischoff was supposed to be the villain of the movie and also was supposed to play a fictionalized version of himself. Of course, this was around the time he got fired and Bill Busch was running things. Hence, why we got Joe Pantaliano as Titus Sinclair. By the way, he really hammed it up in that performance.

Wouldn't you? By the way, Titus is a strange villain, given that he got tired of Jimmy King being an asshole and no-show events and got rid of him as a result, and then towards the end, he planned potentially all outcomes of the cage match. In other words; a competent prompter who was willing to get wailed on if it meant more money and notoriety.

I still think Brian Zane had the best idea for the ending; have King, DDP and Titus pull a swerve and reveal the feud had been planned from the start. It would explain how cameras happened to be rolling when King attacked DDP backstage (and how there was zero security) but also fit the storyarc of Gordie and Shawn being ridiculed for seeing the sport as real. Seeing their beloved King swerve in front of them being the straw-breaker.

I love that this film takes place in a world where the WWF apparently doesn't exist, since WCW was able to book Nitro at Madison Square Garden the New York Arena.

According to DDP, he suggested that while filming, then giving Gordie and Shawn a hug and saying "welcome to the business kid!"

I mean then why the rest of the movie? Why did Sid and Saturn beat up thay old guy? Why did they travel the country to find Jimmy King and try to help his family?

Hogan probably wanted millions to be in it and him being such a shit actor probs didn't want to be outshined by another wrestler.
