With Alundra Blayze competing at Evolution, it will be the first match she’s competed in for WWE in 23 years (her first actual match in 17 years) do you think we have a record here? That seems a really long time? Can you think of any more.
Off the top of my head I thought Ricky Steamboat and Ivan Putski but even they were less
Steamboat (1991-2009: 18 years) Putski (1987-1997: 10 years) I didn’t realise he worked as late as ‘87

Shawn Michaels is about to wrestle at Crown Jewel and he retired 27 years ago.
At least it feels that way.

Samoa Joe and AJ Styles put some serious years between their C-Show appearances and their debuts.

Every one I'm thinking of the gap was more like 8 years instead of what seemed like longer. King Kong Bundy was one of them. He seemed like such a relic in 1994; just 7 years earlier he had a WM moment.
Ric Flair had a couple of MSG matches in 1975 (back when Vince Senior would showcase other guys), then came in as "The Real World's Champion" in 1991.
Steamboat might be your winner.

Samoa Joe and AJ Styles put some serious years between their C-Show appearances and their debuts. Samoa Joe wrestled a losing effort to Essa Rios on WWF Jakked on February 26, 2001. He made his NXT debut on May 21, 2015 beating Scott Dawson then his main roster debut beating Roman Reigns on February 6, 2017. AJ Styles has a few WWF appearances with the last being a dark match where he lost to Rico Constantino in Sunday Night Heat dark match on January 22, 2002. He then wrestled next in the Royal Rumble match on January 24, 2016.

May not be the winner, but what was Pat Patterson's gap between matches?

May not be the winner, but what was Pat Patterson's gap between matches? Not nearly as long you’d think, like 10 years. He was still wrestling somewhat in 87 or so.

Gene Kiniski worked for the WWWF for the first half of 1965, leaving in May. He wouldn't return until the 1987 Legends Battle Royal. (12 years)
Al Costello last worked for the (future-)WWE in 1972 before he returned for that same battle royal (15 years)
Another in that battle royal - Sailor Art Thomas - hadn't worked in the promotion since 1968 (19 years)
When Da Crusher returned to the WWF in 1986 as Crusher Machine, it was almost two decades since he'd last worked for the promotion in 1967 (19 years)

So far Blayze is actually the front runner then.

If we count her arm-wrestling match against Marlena on Raw, Sunny went 12 years between then and the Wrestlemania 25 battle royal.

May not be the winner, but what was Pat Patterson's gap between matches? Let’s not count the stooges bullshit as matches and lets just pretend that he retired for good in the eighties.

here's another long gap:
Canek appeared on an MSG card in 1981 and wrestled in WWF again when they had the Rumble at the Alamodome in 1997, a gap of 16 years.

Gene Okerlund - His first WWF match was in 1984. His second was in 2012, 28 years later.
