My patreon pledge this month was worth it just for JP's full minute of dumbfounded silence after Goldberg won the title.

My patreon pledge this month was worth it just for JP's full minute of dumbfounded silence after Goldberg won the title. I haven’t been paying much attention to current wrestling so I didn’t realize the ppv was yesterday so seeing these show up in my feed was a surprise.I saved the Ricochet one for last cause I imagined JP was very happy about that geek getting destroyed.

Listening to older shows a lot recently. Two things make me hit the skip 30 seconds ahead button:
Nearly ANY mention of Vince leading to that f***ing droning low growly voice that makes the show slow to a crawl. I swear there’s times I’ve hit the skip button like 4-5 times and it’ll STILL be droning on.
Not as bad anymore but in the early days, the droning “BECAUSE. YOU. NEED. IT-tah.”
UGH. So annoying. Also the GIVE US MONEY portion of the show.
I think my favorite scenario/character is from a more recent show where it’s the news editor who hates wrestling and is getting fired from different agencies cause he refuse to report on wrestling, and if he does they have to make sure everyone knows it’s fake. One of the hosts was making up this scenario where the guy moves to a new town and thinks he’s escaped wrestling being reported only for a fax to come in that starts with the WWF letterhead. Had me dying.

They now make the show only for the people who donate, essentially. They listen to have their long, 1400 word emails read out over the space of about 45 minutes each. Which is fine but as something that use to appeal to me, it's doing so less and less. For my money (excuse the pun) the effort needs to be in growing interest in the show not becoming a fairly niche product aimed at an increasingly more niche audience.
If they can make decent dollar out of appealing to a small group of people then all power to them but I think any chance of the show becoming something that has more than niche appeal to an already converted audience, is now slim. It's now just a sprawling mess, multiple hours laced with impressions that are hit and miss, seemingly never-ending appeals for money and ridiculously elongated emails of interest to precisely nobody other than the person who wrote that particular email they're reading at that time, and even then I wonder if even the person who wrote it could possibly hold their interest in the 45 minutes it takes them to read it in its entirety.
It was always in-depth but it was a show you used to be able to listen to over a few sessions at the gym or the daily commute. Then it became a show you could listen to in bed over a few nights. Now it's a show that's honestly a really, really hard ****** listen. The audio equivalent of a 8 hour SNL with about 3 or 4 really funny 5 minute skits with the rest just self-indulgent dirge.
I find podcasts such as OVP much easier to listen to now as it's just 100% content with absolutely minimal shilling or in-jokes. I do wonder how it can possibly develop a bigger audience given that unless you come to each episode having listened to literally hundreds of hours of their back catalogue, it's not going to appeal to you, it cannot possibly. Even stuff I find annoying at least I get, I can't imagine tuning in for the first time and how utterly unappealing the show now is to new listeners.
It gives me no pleasure to say this given how enjoyable the show once was but I think I'm a lapsed Lapsed Fan fan.

As much as I've bitched about the show in this thread, and its not a comment on the quality overall, but JPs Flair impression where he just yelled "HOGAN! WITHOUT A SHADOW OF A DOUBT!" had me dying. Like near painful laughing.

Most of the interesting stuff is usually in part 1 but the format seems to be so loose you can't skip the dull stuff of the shilling or reading out some boring ****s email so I found more and more I was just listening to a short burst at the beginning then trying to skip the dull stuff but couldn't because it would just stretch on for literally hours. I swear once I pressed the '30 seconds fwd' button in excess of 20 times and they were still on the same email.
Like I said before they're making it now exclusively for those who give them money on patreon as growing an audience with a show as utterly unwelcoming to new listeners as theirs is will be impossible. I don't have the numbers but I'd bet a few buck on the rate of new listeners slowing significantly since the show disappeared up its own backside.
Irony being that the podcasts that make the most really don't shill for subscribers that much because they know people subscribe for content but the LF format seems to be to get people to subscribe to have their emails read out and they surely cannot be unaware how utterly off-putting that is to literally everyone else who didn't write the email they're reading out.

I’m just listening to the final WCCW post-script and thought that nothing could top the confrontation between Lapsed Fritz and Lapsed Vince. Then I heard the Michael Hayes tribute song to Terry Gordy.
I’m sure it came from a well meaning place, but good God it was terrible! Some tribute...

I never had any desire to give to a show's patreon until this one. This is easily one of the funniest, most informative wrestling podcasts I've heard.
"Mistah Hitman... I'M SMOKIN' CRACK IN MUH HOOOMTOWN!" destroyed me.

I always want to skip the Patreon shilling, but there seems to always be something that is hilarious that I never do. I actually love when they laugh at each other because it normally (eventually) makes me laugh and I have friends where we do the exact same things when we are in group settings.
