Shane McMahon wins the tournament - for no reason. Shane McMahon is apparently The Best in the World.
Brock Lesnar wins the belt again - after months and months of "this guy ain't here week in and week out" storytelling to make Roman sympathetic.
4 out of shape old timers have a shitty main-event where, guess what, HHH has to get the win again. Nevermind the fact that HBK came out of retirement for this shit, HHH MUST prevail.
No women, of course - but they couldn't do much about that, could they?
How do we defend the booking of this show?

I'm not sure in what way that would make it substantially different from any other booking WWE has done in the last mostly forever.

Totally feels like a f*** you. I just kept watching the alerts go off and I damn near threw my iPad when I saw Brock had won.

Vince has enough money to just say "I don't care what the fans want, I'm doing what I want".
I don't think he's doing it to spite anyone, it's just to please himself. And occasionally he'll throw the fans a bone just to keep the diehards around.

The show itself was “harmless” in what they did
The only real thing of consequence a what the f*** moment was Brock winning
Everything else I have no real complaints in terms of the content in the show

I think they wanted to disassociate themselves as much as possible from where they were and the situation they were in and make it as much of a glorified house show as possible. Aside from the Universal title situation, you could argue that nothing else mattered on the show. Even the Universal title doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things at the moment.

Sounds like a good show to me. People should have known Brock would win. I could see it a mile away. It's the only way that makes sense. Brock already beat Braun. Brock was undefeated for a very long time and the only person who could dethrone him after multiple attempts was Roman. We knew there was possible opposition against Braun with Drew. The odds were against Braun. I have no idea why in the hell anyone expected him to win.

I think perhaps we’re too quick to conflate “The Fanbase” with “Specifically That Part of the Adult Fans In English-Speaking Countries For Whom Discussing the Product With a Critical Detatchment Is Part of Their Fandom.”
There are lots of people who aren’t “us” who an aspiring global media company like the WWE may see as “The Fanbase.”
If for every US or U.K. adult fan who hates the booking, throws their hands up and cancels their subscription, there’s a Saudi kid who pesters their dad into getting a subscription and a load of T-shirts and the new 2K game, or a Chinese cable station who couldn’t care less what Hogan represents but have money to spend on a syndicated show or an Indian advertising agency who think they can do business, or a sham charitable organisation who want to raise their profile, then sticking a middle finger up at “the Fanbase” won’t hurt business in the slightest.

It's baffling that they hype a tournament like this up, and instead of using it to maybe build someone or give someone a unique accolade that they can carry for while, they just throw it away for Shane McMahon cosplaying as Dean Ambrose. Now we have the next 3 weeks to deal with this hilariously trite inter-company war between the show that airs on Monday and the show that airs on Tuesday.
