So the WWF stopped doing monthly cards at Madison Square Garden after the March 92 show. I've never been able to find out the reason why they stopped. I know the monthly shows at the Spectrum, and Boston Garden had ceased in the couple years before this, but I'm really curious as to why they stopped at MSG. I know the business was headed toward a downturn at the time, but lulls in business never stopped them before.
I've tried searching for this online, but my searches always just bring up general MSG, or WWF stuff, and don't really get to the heart of the matter. So was it a WWF, or a Garden decision? I'm surprised I can't find more information on this since its actually kind of a historic thing. I'd appreciate any info anyone here has.

This is very VERY loosely related, but I remember watching Prime Time Wrestling and they had so many shows from MSG, when they had a show from the Maple Leaf Gardens, I thought they were saying "The Make-Believe Garden." Thinking they wanting so many shows at MSG they started pretending they were there, even when they weren't.

A record of which MSG shows sold out and which didn't would be helpful here.
Given the timing of March 1992, I suspect it may also have been a proactive move with Hogan leaving. Maybe with business declining anyway, they didn't believe they could draw well at MSG on a monthly basis without him.

Probably cost of how much MSG was charging WWF. 1992 was horrible economy and I wouldn't be shocked if ticket sales had declined to the point were it wasn't profitable or as profitable for WWF.

I always figured Hogan leaving had to do with the end of the MSG network deal

I think they stopped by 1997 during the Attitude Era.

The monthly shows at MSG, the Spectrum and Boston Garden seemed to be the last holdover from the WWWF days of being "the Northeast Territory". During the Hulkamania days, they had enough star power to run 2 crews so it was still feasible. By the early 90s, it probably made business/logistic sense to start winding the practice down.

I just read about how they had a huge renovation project in the early 1990s, so maybe the costs of that were passed down to the tenants.
