To fill out the Tokyo Dome for New Year's Dash, they can't just have random multiman tags. I'd bring in and showcase guys from ROH, CMLL, RPW and AEW as well as have titles like The US or Never defended on it. I....don't think people would really flood the dome to see ROH stars. lol.

The estimate of tickets that would of been sold for New Year's Dash if they didn't have to worry about seating was approximately 20k, which puts them in a situation where the only place that makes sense to run New Years Dash based on that interest is...the Dome. I do hope they keep the "New Year's Dash" type feel, where the second show really is like a "season premier" just include some bigger match ups as well

I kinda like the 2 day WK next year, since there were a ton of guys on that goofy gauntlet match that should have made the main card. They could also invite ROH to the show again and maybe even feature a CMLL match or even AEW. They cannot seriously put something as relevant as the IC on Taichi. Look, he's fairly amusing as a joke jobber. But he mostly sucks. His NEVER title win over Goto was maybe the worst NJPW match I've seen in the past year, with a close 2nd being oddly enough Fale/Tana from the G1 (which was deadly dull and had a DQ finish). One thing to consider with Omega is where would he fit into the current NJPW scene? He's out of the Bullet Club. He's not a part of any other established faction. The Elite aren't in the company anymore. I'd probably have him freak out and turn total heel, take back the Bullet Club (after White is unsuccessful against Tanahashi), etc. That would put him at odds with Ibushi and set the stage for that whole match later on at WK in 2020. This is all if Omega stays for another year. After putting over Ibushi most likely I do think Omega is done with NJPW though. What would he do after that? Omega has to go total lone wolf supervillain heel. Honestly, I don't think Jay's ready for the title yet, so I'd have Omega regain the title by extremely heelish means, Ibushi's in his corner for the match and they are at odds for a few months, MAYBE win the tag titles from LIJ and so Omega's a double champion, maybe come up short, either way they eventually have a confrontation, and ultimately Omega turns on Ibushi in truly violent fashion. He thinks Ibushi getting injured cost him the title at Wrestle Kingdom, and that Ibushi was then trying to hold him back or steal his spotlight when cornering him when he regained it, just a total projection of his own insecurities that actually he needs Ibushi and Ibushi is better without him. Omega then drops to Naito, and you build for Omega/Ibushi at Wrestle Kingdom 14. After THAT, I'm not sure where you go. Maybe he'd have a proper feud with Naito, blame Naito or LIJ for causing him and Ibushi to split or something, or costing him his title(s), or maybe you do a redemption angle and have him as the babyface naturalised gaijin going against Jay White to teach him a lesson. If Hiromu has returned and moved up to heavy by then I think there could be something fun there. I defnitely think there's still options and mileage for material with Omega because of how NJPW spreads out big matches and makes them all mean something and build on each other, but given New Japan's tag-focused booking between big shows I don't know how you'd fit a lone wolf Omega on those cards. Maybe you don't, maybe you use him sparingly, maybe he's doing AEW by then so can only show up for the bigger shows. Meltzer was asked at the end of the last podcast if there was any match that got above 5 stars and he said yes. Given that he thought that last years Jericho match was better I think its safe to say that Omega Tana got above 5 stars See I know it's just Meltz's opinion but I gotta disagree. I think both Jericho WK matches have been great but I preferred this year's as it had more of a story than just "Oi Omega, I'm the better Winnipeg boy". Can't argue with Omega/Tana getting high marks though, I got so invested.

Yeah I agree that Jericho vs Naito was the better match.

Tana/Omega was more important and despite the bad build told a great story. Naito/Jericho had no business being good but was motn

Just had the chance to watch NYD....I found it mostly underwhelming.
Kushida/Cobb/Nagata vs. Ospreay/Ishii/Goto was worth the watch though. I am digging Anakin Ospreay though. Come to the Darkside Will....
I'm down to see Cobb/Goto again, and Ishii vs anyone almost always has my money, him vs. Nagata would be fun.
Don't like Taichi. Never liked Yoshi-Hashi, and having BLF lumber around in the main event were wet blankets for me.
I usually LOVE LIJ vs. Suzuki-gun matches, but this one I didn't enjoy. But mostly because I really don't like Taichi, and I think Suzuki-gun is starting to wear thin on me. Plus I only really like Suzuki in the group anyway.
And Bullet Club is still dull as day old dishwater. Jay White should have just started his own group, or followed through and tried to destroy Chaos. Him in BC feels like a demotion.
Hopefully New Beginning has a great card to pique my interest, b/c this card didn't do it.

I thought Naito/Jericho was a very good match, much better than their Dominion match, but Omega/Tanahashi was better.

The matches really aren't comparable. I will say that as a more direct comparison I preferred Omega/Tana to Tana/Ibushi from the G1 finals. Omega's selling of the knee/leg was certainly better than Ibushi's nonexistent selling of the same, even though I still find inconsistent selling a problem in big NJPW matches. It's like Omega's leg is hurting, his knee has been wrenched, but he still finds time to do the V Trigger. Isn't that the point of doing the leg work to begin with, to prevent the V Trigger? But again, Ibushi didn't even sell the leg at all.

I’d say non-Dome-inflated rating for Jericho-Naito would be 4 stars and Tanahashi-Omega would be 4.5.
With Meltzer, it will probably be 4.75 stars and 5.5, respectively.

It felt like watching the CHAOS of old, just guys beating the crap out of everyone. I think KUSHIDA is done and going to WWE. Goto/Cobb can happy again, most likely for the ROH TV title. Ishii vs Nagata would be a good one as well. Now we just have to find out who's next for the NEVER Openweight Title. As far as Taichi being #1 contender for the IC, I am fine with that, him and Naito have a good chemistry. Also, back to my crazy prediction, hope I am wrong, but I think White beats Tanahashi at New Beginning to win the belt.

This new Bullet Club definitely needs something else if they’re really gonna be THE heels in the main event programs.
Jay White flanked by Gedo and Fale is not a credible threat.

There's definitely a gap to fill in the IC/US title spot. Fale, Yujiro and Chase definitely aren't good gatekeepers for Jay, so there definitely needs to be a higher heavyweight threat.

Right, if Switchblade is their group ace, they still need someone in the role Sabre, EVIL, and Goto/Ishii do for their respective factions. Fale is good, but he's more of a gimmick guy given his size so BC could use one more legitimate title threat to act as gatekeeper. Though, to be fair, that was an issue for BC even going back a couple of years, so it's consistent, at least.

Kind of a shame that Tama just was never able to take that next step (and probably won't ever).
