Isn't the whole reason the shows aren't in the MCU proper because the movie and TV divisions heads don't get along? Like that's the reason The Avengers STILLe don't know Coulson is alive? If they cancel the shows wouldn't that free all these characters up for the movies? Essentially, yeah. The thought is, however, that if the shows are cancelled the legacy characters would most likely be "rebooted" in the movies with new actors and new origin stories, while the characters created for the shows would be discarded.

The puns are there, you just have to really put a Bullseye on them, otherwise they Stick out like a sore thumb. You guys are really beating the pun dead horse with a Stick. I'm so angry at all of these terrible jokes that I'm shaking my Fisk.

I'm kinda sketchy on the details of Netflix's rights. Do Disney even have the rights to continue these shows? I mean, yes, the actors signed contracts with Marvel Entertainment and the rights to the characters staying at Disney are a given, but Netflix surely retain exclusivity of the shows it's released so far, no? Like, Disney can't just transplant the shows as is to Disney+?

I haven’t seen that article, but does it say if there’s anything keeping the producers of a popular show like that from just walking to Amazon or Hulu and selling the rights to them? Does not sound like a sound long term business strategy. With Disney getting into the streaming game I’d think Netflix would want as many big guns on their side as possible. Amazon and Hulu have the same strategy. "Vertical integration" is the buzzword they use to describe it but with the tidal wave of content out there, they want as much of the profit/costs to remain in-house as possible now. Hulu's also 1-6 months away from being 67% owned by Disney. If they continue the Netflix shows, I could definitely see them landing on Hulu.

Well this is a bummer. Guessing the next season of Jessica Jones will be the last for her as well. Really hope they don't drop Punisher too but I wouldn't be surprised

EDIT: Sorry for the size of the image, couldnt find a smaller pic. you can change the size of the pic. when you post it, go to the full reply page instead of quick reply. post the link and all that stuff, click the preview tab and it should show the picture, then when you click back to the other tab it should have "width=100%" and you can resize it there

If Disney want the characters for their own services (whether it’s D+ or Hulu), then Netflix certainly showed restraint by not killing everyone off in the spectacular and irreversible way possible
"Frank Castle failed to stop the Neutron Bomb from detonating, everyone on the eastern seaboard was instantly killed. - thanks for watching *Netflix Da Dun*"

I can't see Iron Fist, Jessica Jones, or Luke Cage fitting into MCU proper, but I'm also not familiar with them outside of the Netflix shows. As for Daredevil and Punisher, I could see them showing up in future Spiderman movies.
I know it's like a zero chance, but I'd love it if Avengers 4 opened with The Defenders taking the place of the Avengers on Earth in the aftermath of the snap.

Charles Soule who just finished up his run on Daredevil had a great joke about how it was supposed to be just his run ending

These shows have been following the law of diminishing returns for a while now. I think the problem with several has been that they make the main characters look awful most of the time, never doing anything right, always getting beaten down or minimized. This was a big problem with Luke Cage S2, where Cage himself was buried and it became the Mariah and Shades Hour. Or Iron Fist where Danny Rand continually was written like a jobber and everyone else was made out to be a hero. I'm still baffled as to why Jessica Jones hasn't been cancelled since the S2 of it was probably the single worst season of any of these shows. Just give Punisher a season 2 and call it a day.

So it’s really just Netflix saying to Disney “we hosted your content, we made your shows... and now you are taking your content so you can make something that is direct competition to us... well f*** You we are not making your shows anymore”.

Netflix is being salty but I kinda get it. Losing everything Disney off their service is probably gonna take a chunk out of their subcriber base.

Hopefully they just keep the actors and scrub the shows. Outside of Daredevil season 1 and 3, and Jessica Jones season 1, I thought the shows sucked. They were way too interested in being boring adult dramas to bother being superhero shows. Iron Fist especially was a huge piece of shit.
