Thinking more about this the other day, and while I'm still hoping it does OK because I can see the market for a spring league, if I were Vince I would have done a bit different.
I would have taken inspiration from the BIG3 in basketball.
Do four or six teams and do just a few players per team. No 11-on-11, maybe 8-on-8 at most. Have guys who were kinda names but never did more than a few years in the NFL. Use it to come up with different rules (like BIG3 and the 4 point zones). Basically, do fun, not ambition.

Big fan of the idea of making it 7 or 8 man football. There's a ton of undersized good college players that never sniff the NFL because they don't meet the body-spec. They shine in 7/8 Man style play.

So, Alpha Entertainment recently filed some trademark applications regarding the Seattle franchise. Could one of these end up being the team name?

Meh.....
How about the Seattle Sasquatch? It fits in the Pacific Northwest (Washington has more Bigfoot sightings than any other state) and the alliteration works.

It will be the Seattle Surge and the stadium will serve nothing but Surge soda.

Speaking of which, is it weird that I hope the XFL does just that for its apparel? Having lived through the time when that brand was the hottest thing on the planet, I would totally buy an oversized XFL Starter jacket. I still have all my Starter clothing.

I'm sorry if this has already been addressed, but why do these leagues insist on starting right after the Super Bowl? Why not wait, like 6 weeks, and give people a chance to miss football before you start?

Why not wait, like 6 weeks, and give people a chance to miss football before you start? The idea is simple. If you can get even 5% of people who watch the Super Bowl to check out your spring time league's first game, that's 5,000,000 people watching on day one. That's more than most NASCAR races, more than RAW and Smackdown's together on most weeks, bigger than most MLB games. And to be fair, it worked out for the XFL at first. IIRC ratings were not bad at all week one. It's just that they free falled afterwards once everybody learned how shitty the football itself was.

How bad the football was and Vince couldn't help but Vince... by adding wrestling things into it that people who watch football don't really want to see.

Push it off too much and it goes head to head with March Madness up front then back end it hits CFL on ESPN. Late winter early spring is the only time really devoid of being able to watch footballl.

So are they every gonna announce the team names?
They've been pushing it off, and it's starting to piss me off. I want to decide between Dallas and Washington, and maybe look at buying some swag.

Vince can't help himself. MITB Cash-Ins, DB new direction, Roman's SummerSlam opponent, etc. He loves bait and switches and dragging dumb shit out. I can't wait for this to fail again.

So apparently they'll be looking at around 800 or so former NFL, CFL and AAF players for their draft, with the eight teams to have rosters of 70.
OK, NOW I'm starting to have concerns. Assuming Vince is footing much of these salaries himself....
