China's government apparently is banning the film due to Sima Liu's remarks from a couple years back That's the least surprising plot twist in the entire MCU The citizens aren't happy with them as they want to see the film.

Put this in the Disney+ thread but film debuts on November 12th on Disney+ for Disney+ Day.
Coincidently, around the time of D+’s expansion into Asian markets.

4 weeks in a row it's topped the box office I mean, it's not like it particularly had much competition. I fully expect Venom to knock it out of number one next weekend.

I saw this a few hours ago in the cinema with a buddy. I had a good time. It didn't blow me away but I enjoyed myself and I think they did a great job of adapting things like The Mandarin and the Ten Rings in a way that made them work while avoiding some of the potential landmines those could have brought. I was impressed that Marvel has established their brand enough to have so many subtitles. They absolutely made sense in the context but even say 5-10 years ago they likely would have just had everyone speak English apart from once or twice.
All in all though, it was an enjoyable movie with a character I know little about, despite being a big comic nerd. I think it told a good multifaceted story and with the midcredit trailer, I'm really interested to see where things go.

Of course, unlike Shang Chi, Black Widow didn't have a single native Russian speaker. {Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW}Except for Olga Kurylenko, but she's mute the entire movie.

A possible explanation for the post credit scene
{Spoiler}{SPOILER: CLICK TO SHOW} With She Hulk getting a series and she is transformed due to Bruce giving her a blood transfusion, doing so caused him to revert back to Banner instead of being Hulk all the time

I FINALLY saw this... cannot believe I went two months without being spoiled. Great movie, probably the top tier of MCU origin movies next to Doctor Strange (Does Black Panther count as an origin story?).

Just watched this!
I'd describe it as a very well done formula Marvel movie with a delightful martial arts/Chinese fantasy coat of paint
If you don't like Marvel movies this one won't be the exception, but it all came together for me.
Strangely I really want to buy a BMW now. Can't figure out why.

Saw it over the weekend.
I make sure not to read spoilers or even watch trailers anymore for Marvel movies because I know for sure I'm going to see them anyway.
I was pleasantly surprised by all the previous MCU characters that appeared and how much they elevated 3 previously seen characters from D-listers to at least a level above as C-listers.
Also, was there a connection between the people of Shang Chi's mom and the people that trained Iron Fist? I know its not the same people, but the power seemed similar and she was wearing green and yellow in her first fight scene.

Allegedly they were going to have a reference or connection between Ta Lo and K'un-L'un but it was scrapped. I really enjoyed the movie, and I'm glad I saw it before I saw the Disney + ad as the Disney+ ad for it spoils a ton of things.

Good that its getting a sequel. Its success will also open Marvel's doors to take more risk with unknown characters instead of playing it safe.
It would've made double its box office if China would have let it air there as there was a huge market for it there.

I'm all here for Simu Liu dunking on the Comicsgate assholes. Who, in typical fashion, are responding with the same weak "Well, the movie still sucked" line that they rolled out when Captain Marvel did not bomb. Even saw one guy try to argue that until the movie is actually filming it's simply not happening... but he's also trying to claim that The Marvels will never come out since it's "trapped in pre-production", despite the fact that it's been filming since August and all the principal stars have been photographed on set. Sometimes it almost feels like they're just dunking on themselves.
