I just found out that Tony Rosato of SNL (and later, the Super Mario cartoons) died early last year. I had no idea that he was dead (maybe they announced it on SNL, but I dont really watch SNL that much anymore). Any other famous people whose death you just found about?

I do the Birthdays threads in the (w)Rest of Wrestling part of the forum, and I double-check each day's listings before posting.
Looking up the birthdays for November 30th, I found out that "Z-Man" Tom Zenk died last year around this time (Atherosclerosis and enlarged heart).
I forgot.

I remember Elisabeth Sladen and Nicholas Courtney both dying at around the same time in 2011 and it being big news among Doctor Who fan circles. What I did not know until about two years ago was that Caroline John, who played Liz Shaw on Doctor Who at around the same time as Sladen and Courtney, and Mary Tamm, who played original Romana on the show in the late 70's, also passed away a couple of months after them. Their deaths went completely under my radar.
This also led me to discover that Barry Letts, the shows producer during the early 70's, had also passed away a couple of years earlier then this. He and Terrance Dicks (the shows script editor around the same time) were staples of the commentary tracks on the DVD releases of Third Doctor stories. It became kinda weird as the last couple of Third Doctor stories trickled out on DVD to only hear Dicks on these commentaries and not Letts as well.

Bob Ross
His painting show never really made it to Australia. And if it did it was probably on at some stupid o’clock.
Only really knew about him he started popping up on meme sites about a decade ago. Then did not find he was dead until a few years after that when he was mentioned in a Cracked list (talking about how he used to be a drill sergeant). Didn’t know that painting show was that old.

I get really bad with wrestlers. The obvious ones like Eddie, Benoit or Andre I remember... but like when Molly Holly came out during Evolution I said "Wonder what Crash is up to these days?" And it took me like 15 seconds to remember why I was getting some weird ass looks from the others at the viewing party.

I was pretty young in 2007 and didn't ever use the internet, so after the Benoit deaths happened, someone printed out a list of dead wrestlers at the time and it was very jarring for me. I knew about guys like Andre, Eddie, and Owen, but seeing Big Boss Man, Crash Holly, and others was super strange.
These days, sadly it's the ones who were way too young that I forget about, because they should still be alive in a perfect world. Test, Lance Cade, Umaga are a few I always forget are gone.
Aaaaaand now I'm sad.

Remember a thread like this before and it came up that two of the cast of Moesha have passed away
Lamont Bentley who played Hakeem died in a car crash in 2005 and Yvette Wilson who played Andell passed away of cancer in 2012.

This is the first I've heard about his passing. I'm usually the opposite - someone famous who's not been in the public eye for a while will appear on TV and I'm amazed that they're still alive. That said, sometimes their death is announced and I thought they'd already died several years before i.e. Ernest Bourgnine a few years back.
