With Super Smash Bros. Ultimate coming out, having every fighter from past games in from the start plus some new ones, a quick thought came to mind.
What other fighting games with long histories (most longer than Smash even) would you want to have an "Ultimate"...as in, every character from past games, plus some new ones?
Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat I could see being the big two of this (even if Mortal Kombat ALMOST had one with Armageddon...just couldn't get both Chameleon and Khameleon on the same version), but I would like to hear other options.
Even if it's only had 2 games thus far, I wouldn't mind Injustice having a game with all past characters in.

MK technically did have an "Ultimate" game with Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, followed by the MK Trilogy, which had everyone (at the time).

King of Fighters had done this with KOF '98: Ultimate Match, which was an updated version of KOF '98 that had everyone from KOF '94 to '98. '02 Unlimited Match had everyone in the NESTS Saga plus the New Face Team, '97 Special Team, Gesse and Rugal.

Yes! I'm really surprised this hasn't happened yet, actually.

Yes! I'm really surprised this hasn't happened yet, actually. They have to figure out how many bits technically the current consoles are so that they can put a fractional number at the end of the name of that game, a la "Clay Fighter 63 1/3" for the Nintendo 64.

Mario Kart Ultimate would be a good one, especially if they bought back most of the track along with every racers. Bonus point if they put Pac-Man and the others from the arcade games as well.

Can't Tecmo just say 'screw it, we know the real reason most of you bought the DOA games' and do a Dead Or Alive Ultimate but with just all the women?

I already thought Street Fighter 2 had an Ultimate version somewhere among it's 58 different versions

I already thought Street Fighter 2 had an Ultimate version somewhere among it's 58 different versions Yes, the one they just released for the Nintendo Switch is basically that. All 17 characters from the 'Street Fighter 2 series' if you will, plus 2 more, all fully playable. It is funny that "the Street Fighter series" can basically be splintered into it's own sets of series for each of the sequels. "Ultra Street Fighter 4" basically had all the versions of all the fighters from all the SF4 games. "Street Fighter Alpha 3" is basically that for the Alpha series. I think the third "Street Fighter 3" had all them. And I'm fairly certain SFV will follow suit. All that said, seriously, can the SF1 guys get some love in any future SF game?

Hyper Street Fighter Alpha was the one that had various versions of Alpha characters(ie. Alpha 1 Guy vs. Alpha 3 Shin Bison).

Virtua Fighter Ultimate would be good, again, since it'd be a new VF game. Maybe toss in some guests from Yakuza and the Shenmue guy if they want some additional starpower without throwing off the game's tone.

Fighters Megamix did this in 1998 to a degree, fun game.
I'd like a street fighter one bu the amount of variations a few characters have had would make it interesting to balance (M.Bison, Dhalsim) are vastly different move wise in SF2, Alpha & SFV.
I'd like an Ultimate Soul Calibur series combined with Weaponlord.

Marvel vs Capcom But that is beyond Capcom's ability If there's another positive to the Disney/Fox merger is that at least we can get the X-men again.

I know they brought back characters that even the devs hated like Hsu Hao for that. The only one left out was Khameleon and she was added to the Wii port. I have, like, absolutely no idea why they prioritized Chameleon and Meat over her given they both have weaker movesets and are nowhere near as popular.

Rival Schools, just since it'd mean a new goddamn Rival Schools game. Co signed. Very underrated Fighting game series. Whilst we are at it I would love to have Darkstalkers back as well.
