Is there such a thing as taking your meds too early? This week, I've been putting my Daytrana patch on and taking my Sertraline and Guanfacine at like midnight instead of my usual 6:00, because I wake up in the middle of the night and can't go back to sleep. Today, I put my patch on, but by 4, I had trouble focusing. I told my mom about this, and she says it's because the meds have already worn off by now.
Could this also be why I've been having trouble sleeping?

I don't know anything about the others, but I'm also on Sertraline/Zoloft and I don't have a set time that I take it at which my psych told me is not an issue. Hopefully someone can help you with your other meds!

Talk to your doctor about it.

Yes. In most cases medication should be taken no more than an hour before the time on the script or an hour after.

Yes. In most cases medication should be taken no more than an hour before the time on the script or an hour after. As a certified med aide and someone that administers medication to the individuals I support this is 100% the case. If you are taking them at midnight and let's say you take the next one at noon (and the original time was at 6, well from 6-noon you pretty much unmedicated. You're body doesn't just shut down when you're asleep.

You need to take your medications when your doctor tells you to. Not before. Not after.

You need to take your medications when your doctor tells you to. Not before. Not after. This. OP translated: "I'm not taking my meds in the intervals I was prescribed and they don't appear to be working, is that why they're not working?" The doctor gave you a specific medication at a certain amount of dosage based on your personal needs and requirements. If you aren't following their directions, not only are you not going to benefit from the medication having its proper effect on you, there is also a possibility you could be doing actual damage to your system with the lack of consistency in the medication (falling in and out of certain chemical states can do serious damage with certain drugs). Get back on schedule and try to stick to it proper from here on out.
