I have a moderate interest in new music, but I notice my musical taste in newer music has changed. I dont listen or look for new metal bands. Most of them never bothered to learn how to sing.
Nowadays I like finding new jazz and blues, like Trombone Shorty, Joe Bonamasso, and GoGo Penguin.

I didn't used to be interested.
Until I realized the Bowling for Soup lyric from High School Never Ends "And you still listen to the same shit you did back then" is too true.
Now ive decided to branch out and discover new bands rather than listening to the old metal and rock I liked when I was 15.
I trudge through Spotify "fans also like". Discovered some good bands on there.
If your a fan of Iron Maiden and older metal check out Night Circus. They're completely unknown... Like just over 100 listeners but they are excellent. Quality band.

27 and always looking for new stuff to listen to. I have my favorites that I listen to every day, but I tend to get restless if I'm not finding a new album I haven't heard. Pitchfork has been smoldering garbage for a while now. I'd steer clear. I strongly recommend Rateyourmusic to everyone. It's where I've found most of the non-metal I listen to. To answer the question, I just turned 30, and music is my biggest passion. I'm always interested in discovering new stuff. I love RYM, it's been so handy for me. Absolutely. I just made an account recently, but I've been using it for years. I really like how it'll link you to message board threads where the artist or album has been mentioned.

34. I've always been into listening to new music and thanks to Apple Music it's now easier than ever to find stuff. That and Youtube reviewers & Rate Your Music.

35 years old, I'd say at least once a month I go to a local punk and/or metal show. I usually know at least one band on the bill, but I'm on the lookout for the bands I'm unfamiliar with to see if they're any good. Bought a lot of CDs this past year and a half.

And how old are you? I’m 43 and am in to music more than most people I know, but I’ve never looked for anything new, it just kinda found me. I have a wide range of stuff I like, but it boils down to simple stuff-I want catchy pop type stuff-whether it be Van Halen or the Beatles, I don’t really care what the song is trying to say. A lot of people seem to put a lot into the artist’s words or what’s in their soul or something. It’s just not my thing. So how about you? I am 44,turning 45 in 7 months, and kinda gave up on most new music in 97. But then the main genres I listen to rarely get radio play. Been recently getting into a few local bands, like Judy and the Jerks,101 Damnations and Greedo.

I’m 27 and not really. The most recent band I got into is The Struts. I'm older than 27, but: same. The Struts are one of the few newer bands/artists I've taken to. One of my good friends is younger than me and she's helped me stay remotely connected to what's out now. There isn't much I've gotten into deep enough to dive into their catalog, but I'll keep on some songs of the moment or whathaveyou. I feel ancient.

As a 28-y.o. metalhead, I definitely do a good deal of looking, though not enough I feel.
Going to see Septicflesh/Dark Funeral back in March helped a lot, though. Aside from a couple of more local acts, there was a great black metal band called Thy Antichrist that put on one hell of a live show. Oh, and they did a lot of wandering around the venue like everyone else while Septicflesh and Dark Funeral got their bus repaired and back on the road, and they even loaned their drums out to Septicflesh and Dark Funeral because of how late it was when they finally arrived.

34. I don't go out of my way to find new music. I'm way too picky about what I actually enjoy, mostly just industrial/harsh EBM and bubblegum pop, plus I'm easily discouraged- if I'm looking for new music and happen to chose three songs I don't care for in a row, I shut down on music for the rest of the week. I also don't particularly care about the lyrics or message outside of maybe a few Sonata Arctica tracks and of course New Order's "True Faith". Mostly that has to do with the fact that I have issues with my audio processing that makes it difficult for me to "hear" the words.
But my best friend is my official music tester, and he's very passionate about music and has an excellent understanding of my taste. He's the only source I take music suggestions from.

35 here. I mainly listen to metal and I'm always on the hunt for new bands. Though, I wish I could go back in time to when everything sounded fresh to these ears.
As far as non-metal, I'm pretty picky as to what I will willingly listen to, but I can appreciate things I didn't in years past. Some things I will never care for, though.
