I mean, their programming has been very good in recent years with the DC Universe, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, and their older shows. I feel like quality wise they've surpassed the other networks. They may not have a news or sports deal, but truthfully I feel like the network has evolved into being on par on terms of quality with the others.

As good as CW's programming is now, they're still not in the Big Four's league in terms of value or size. If they really want to get to that level, they need to do what FOX did to get on NBC, ABC, and CBS' level: get a national sports deal. Like the CW, Fox was seen as the little sibling of the Big Three and an entirely lesser tier of network. The NFL on FOX deal launched them into the stratosphere and The Big Three became The Big Four.

It's the only network I watch. Between Legacies, DC TV, and Supernatural it covers my love for genre stories. Nothing on fox, CBS, ABC, or NBC I really care to watch or if there is something it gets canceled.

THAT^ All the stuff I watch which DCTV is all on the CW Although Scy Fy might start luring me away a bit with how good Deadly Class is looking

I don't want the CW to be like the big four networks. I like that they're a little more niche, and they seem to be realistic about their size. Because of that, I think they're also pretty fair with the chances they gives their shows to grow and be who they are, and also to stay on the air. All of that would probably change if they got much bigger.

Looking over that link above, it appears every show the CW had there were all aimed at pretty much the exact same audience and demographic. As popular as those shows are, there isn't much room for true growth, into other age brackets and such. They need to diversify and get some strong shows that audiences who don't cosplay at conventions can support.
