When was the last time Ric Flair was really hated by the fans? In all my life time, I don't think I ever really seen it. As far as 1985, I never saw truly hated with real heel heat. Yes he would get booed, but still mixed in with some cheers, no mater what he did. He broke Dusty's leg after he came to help him, and still got some cheers in his promos, all the time he betrayed Sting, still not completed hated.
I guess the 1991-93 WWF run, that was an audiance that didn't really know him, and still didn't feel the hate. But early 90's WWF wasn't the enviroment for that. I guess when he went to the other territories, still I tought the fans just viewed more of a opsticle towards their hero getting the belt. I watched some WCCW, and Flair was not hated as the Freebirds.
I am sure there was a time in Mid Atlantic in the 70's and early 80's, that the fans hated him for real. But how long ago was that?

Flair was the epitome of a cool heel, which is ironic since he despised the NWO later on for being exactly that. The last time he was really hated though? I dunno, probably that lead up to Starrcade 1985 vs. Dusty after the leg angle, but this is before I was watching. Flair for the most part during that TBS era run for Crockett wanted to be the top heel and top face at the same time, which is probably why I feel Tully Blanchard was the best pure heel in 1980s wrestling.

Flair being handed the world title by Nash in 2000 WCW for his 16th an final reign drew heat, but that might have been moreso for the booking

Probably in the bash at the beach match when Hogan debuted in wcw. I think after that the crowd never wanted to boo Ric. He was in his forties back then and was already recognized as a legend.

Some crowds got on him good in certain WWF towns in the early 90s, but even then you’d see a supporter or two on camera.

Honestly, I thought he did a really good job of getting people to turn on him during his 1999 heel run, even if it was partially due to WCW in general falling at the same time.

I think Flair's strength as a heel was when he was a touring champion. Once Crockett had a tighter grip on the NWA title, Flair was the "home team," which made it much harder to heel.

He was pretty loathed during ‘99 when he was the storyline commissioner of WCW.
