The weird thing is that Roman being gone feels like more of a loss roster-wise than Cena when he started leaving I have to disagree with this, specially if you take Cena off the board in the stage of his career that Roman is at now. I think a lot of it has to do with the supreme blandness of story telling and the fact that everyone just feels the same. Lot of these guys now spend 3-5 years on the main roster with barley any meaningful changes to there characters. Even with Super Cena around least you had interesting characters he went up against Punk, Edge, Orton, Jericho etc. Roman doesn’t really have that benefit as Cena did.

Yeah It's because Roman was their only guy... they sacrificed everyone to both Roman and Brock... and they had literally no backup plan.

You're kinda agreeing with me here though. I said it feels more like a loss roster-wise and that's due to everything being built around Reigns. Sure, more guys can be moved up now but at the same time given they didn't build everyone else when Reigns takes a leave everyone feels it. In Cena's time though while he was The Guy everyone else was built up way more than everyone is now. When I said it feels like more of a loss I'm talking about how the shows are impacted compared to where it can potentially be with the other guys. It just goes back to everyone saying that they shouldn't have built the show completely around Reigns. When Reigns returns we'll have a larger line-up that can maybe be similar to Cena's era once they're built up but we'll see.

Not a huge fan but he did feel like an actual star, unlike most of the roster. I figured the panic over not having him would either improve the quality of the writing or send the show into a nose dive and it seems to be the latter

I don't know about you all but I want Roman wrecking shop when he comes back. I want him taking no prisoners, just doing what it do. You're not the only one that wants that. Instead of Reigns on the deck for most of the match, I want to see him dominate. None of this working from under shit against bums like Corbin and Mahal - just dominate them. Have him kill jabronis on Raw, not take 10 minutes to beat them.
Next Royal Rumble he's in, have him spend much of it on attack, not sleeping in the corner or spending it backstage. Have him take part in hard hitting brawls. Make him look like a Franchise Player, instead of a bum.
I want the Roman that laid waste to the League of Nations in December 2015. Book the dude like a Silent Badass Killer, and he will get OVER AS F***.
I think when Reigns returns they're going to have Reigns go over others and honestly it might be the same booking as now. The weird thing is that given his hiatus they'll probably say that he's not as strong as before and make him seem like a real underdog. Before when they tried to make him an underdog they just did it but now when they do it they'll have something to hang onto. A part of me thinks it'll be messed up that they'll use the "Reigns is weaker now, can he get it done" storyline given his life was on the line. At the same time if we're going to have Reigns back in the ring then I want the man to seem strong given he'll have beaten cancer twice. It's crazy to imagine a superstar beating cancer twice. That in itself is pushable. They just don't need to go overboard but you know how this company is. Ambrose and Rollins have been screwed due to this thing already. Lord knows how Roman's return will be.

Lord knows how Roman's return will be. His return, and despite quite a few people hoping he never comes back when he recovers he almost certainly will come back, is something WWE is going to have to be extremely careful with. If he gets booked like he was prior to his hiatus it would be disastrous but as we have seen, it would be all too easy for them to make it much worse.

I'm already expecting the company to screw it up from the jump. Every Reigns match will have him being beaten down for most of the match while the heel does the whole "you're not the same man you used to be Roman" thing and Reigns will eventually overcome at the end. It'll be like that first Nakamura/Ziggler match where Ziggler was dominating most of the match until the end. I don't think they need to go that route though. I think they need to show Reigns just downing dudes proving that he's so strong he beat cancer twice. Don't show him weak, show his strength which overcame an incredibly deadly disease. Say "Roman's so strong, so dangerous, cancer couldn't stop him" as he Superman punches 6 dudes in the 2020 Rumble or something.

I have no problem with Roman being on the WWE roster. Obviously I want him healthy but my problem was never with Reigns it was the WWE’s idea of what Reigns was. He was this generations Hogan, Rock,Austin or Cena... while absolutely nobody wanted it. Fans voiced their disapproval about as loud as they could and WWE just kept making it known he was their guy going forward. He was going to be the guy to unseat Brock and he was going to be the #1 guy for the foreseeable future.
It’s a WWE issue not a Reigns issue... and I have no doubt in the next five years or so we’ll be given the next “Guy” who’s the future of the company whether the fans like it or not
