At one time, I had over 300 of their VHS tapes, but sold them shortly after moving to Dallas in 2000 due to financial issues. At the moment, I have around 75-100 DVDs from them.

Mighty Gorga - the absolute worst King Kong rip-off ever.
Godmonster of Indian Flats - mutant sheep monster rampages through a southern racist town.
Sting of Death - Jellyfish-Man. All that needs to be said.
The Geek - Yes, THAT bigfoot movie

Today I performed my annual Thanksgiving day tradition of watching BLOOD FREAK (1972), an anti-drug, pro-Christianity gorefest (yes!) co-written, co-produced, co-directed, and co-starring Steve Hawkes and Brad Grinter. Grinter pops in frequently to provide narration and philosophical ramblings (and chain-smoke cigarettes) about the life and times of Hawkes' character, Herschell. Ol' Hersch is a Vietnam vet and drug addict, who takes a job at a combination turkey farm/laboratory and, as the result of an experiment, is transformed into a turkey-headed blood-drinking monster! Now it's up to Herschell's new girlfriend Ann and her bible-thumping sister Angel to save Herschell with the help of the Lord!  Our main character prays for salvation. Writing, acting, editing, lighting, sound design, everything about this flick is crappy. Enjoyably so, I'll add. In addition to that film, I've got a handful of Herschell Gordon Lewis flicks (Two Thousand Maniacs, Blood Feast, Wizard of Gore), Frank Hennenlotter's early 80s masterpiece Basket Case, the Extra Weird Sampler DVD, and one of the DVD-Rs from their website, Caged Virgins. |

Been a SWV customer since it was just whatever films Mike could bootleg. Had close to 200 of their VHS. And got over 150 of their DVDs and Blu rays.

Basket Case was an awesome movie. It also has two or three sequels, right? I’d love to check out some new Something Weird titles. Preferably on physical media, but now they’re doing more downloads and DVD-Rs which I’m not as into as DVDs and Blu-rays. Although I was looking at the website yesterday and saw they have at least one 4K release which I found surprising. Anyone check those out? It’s so weird to think of these ultra strange titles presented in crystal clear 4K. |

the Extra Weird Sampler DVD I can think of at least four people I know personally whose only knowledge of SWV is that disc. It's awesome. I remember getting it at Suncoast, there was some sort of deal that it was either free or $3, probably with some sort of other purchase. It's a great intro to the company's catalog. |

I watched Night of the Bloody Apes/Feast of Flesh for a double feature tonight. Great fun for the first one! The second one is more a detective story than straight horror and is a pretty predictable whodunnit. It is only an hour and 10 minutes but goes by slooooow.

Without Something Weird, I would've never discovered the Herschel Gordon Lewis gore films or 1977's wonderful oddity Axe, so I'm eternally grateful for them.

I was tempted to mention in the horror thread that I watched Space-Thing a few days ago. It is about a guy who falls asleep after reading Sci-fi books and banging his wife. He dreams he is an alien who must disguise himself as a human on a spaceship filled of nymphomaniacs. He finds them gross, but has to nail them to maintain their trust.
This may not sound like a horror movie to you, but you haven’t seen how much body hair is involved.

In addition to some of the ones named above, I want to throw a shout out to two of my personal faves: MONSTERS CRASH THE PAJAMA PARTY (a spook show movie with a CRAP ton of extras, including a hidden movie) and MONDO MOD/THE HIPPIE REVOLT (These are two "documentaries" on the hippie era, as well as a bunch of related extras). I love Something Weird Video....often time shitty movies, but the discs are loaded up with so many extras that the movies themselves often are just as much of a bonus as the extras are.

I’ve been on a Something Weird kick for a while now. So much so that I finished all my Something Weird DVDs recently. I noticed there are still plenty floating around that are not super pricey. Anyone have any recommendations? I don’t want to spend more than $15 per item.

I found this interview with Mike's wife from earlier this year! *LANGUAGE WARNING* rockandrollglobe.com/punk/trash-addicts-everywhere-its-something-weirds-greatest-hits/Apparently they put out a CD that compiles tracks from some SWV movies. Also, I'm still not sure of the exact number but I learned from this interview that Something Weird Video put out at least 120 DVDs with Image, and presumably under 130. I'd be curious to find a complete list. On the official website they have about 110 listed, but I know for a fact some long out of print titles are missing. Also, in the interview she specifies that the 120 number refers to double and triple features. I'm curious if that number then excludes the DVDs that just had one feature. Or perhaps she is just lumping them all the DVDs under the umbrella of double and triple features, since so many of them were double and triple features. Even the ones that weren't tended to have enough extras to make the DVD run time at least a double feature lol. |

I just started watching Wild Wild World of Jayne Mansfield / Labyrinth of Sex. I haven’t watched the features yet, but the Euro Sex Trailers included as extras were a lot of fun  |
