I'm in a better place than I was this time last year, so I'm going to call it a win. Traveled a lot more and expanded my comfort zone, plus after a lot of hemming and hawing I finally booked a week long dream vacation for next May. Naturally, there were some bumps in the road. First, in April I was a shoo-in for a really fantastic job opportunity, but midway through the process the company refocused their hiring policies and myself plus a whole bunch of other applicants were no longer qualified. Silver lining though, my extremely comprehensive pre employment physical came back with flying colors, including ekgs, ultrasounds, metabolic panel, even a rather grueling eye examination. Then my boyfriend's grandfather who lived with us suffered a particularly nasty fall over the summer. Eventually it was decided he needed to go into assisted living, but none of that happened without drama flying around from all sides. And we still have to figure out how we're going to go about moving to a smaller place within the next couple of months. But overall, I've been doing better, cutting back on drinking, practicing my homemaking skills, gearing up to take a couple of adult education classes and possibly take on a community volunteer position in the coming year. Also, riding high on choosing to stop bothering to wear anything but pajamas if I'm just working around the house/yard, best decision I ever made! (Don't worry, I'm talking about tshirt and pant sets, not like negligees or anything )

I've made a lot of friends. I've experienced personal growth. That is almost the extent of any positives I've got to share.

well, about a month before graduating college I remembered an extremely traumatic childhood incident which suddenly explained my entire life and my severe social anxieties, which sent me into therapy
my older brother had a major downturn with his bipolar and spent 3-4 months in the hospital (he's still hasn't gotten his canadian driver's license reinstated)
a little over a month ago my sister decided to end her toxic marriage after almost three (and about seven or eight years of dating before that), and it's just been the jolliest time. he's hacked her email and sent private photos to her bosses, put a tracker on her phone and stalked her while she's out (and threatened to kill her male friend when he caught them hanging), took the license plate off her car (which he said the cops did), his friend "morpheus" (a very unique, original name) said he was going to post all her texts and emails online, and starting last night she's been getting pinged from a Find My Phone ap, then today started getting texts from "Lost Phone" calling her a slut and saying she should kill herself followed by texts from "God" pointing out that "even Mary Magdalene was saved after giving up her evil whore ways". for some reason, I'm 98% sure that wasn't the real God.
so how was 2018?

My sister's non-Hodgkin's lymphoma went into remission and I got to see Septicflesh/DarkFuneral/Thy Antichrist and Judas Priest/Saxon/Black Star Riders. Those are the only good things to happen to me this year. Work has gone straight to hell since the store began a full-on remodel which has made work difficult for those of us who actually bother to work, and me being basically the only one closing outside most of the time and getting almost exclusively closing shifts has driven me insane, and I'm not exaggerating, either. I need to stop procrastinating and find work somewhere else before that place kills me.
Also, I continue to suck at poker but that's minor compared to everything else.

Pros My sons are doing good. The oldest has a great job. And now has a very nice girlfriend. My youngest keeps doing better and better in school. My fave local Indy started running shows again. And I am getting compensated for the work I do for them. My lady got a promotion at work. Plus she got a nice raise. I switched one of my meds and the new meds has less side effects.
Cons Lost 2 longtime friends, were like brothers to me. One has been fighting lung cancer vs since 2000. They other was trying to help out some people and died in an accident. Along with the promotion and raise my lady now has to work at least 54 hour a week. So I am lucky if I see her more than 2 times a week. My mother's health took a major downturn. She is now having to use a walker to get around. My car has been having minor issues all year. Every time I make some extra money it ends up going to fix something on the car. A close friend had to go-to a mental hospital. Glad she is getting help. But hate that she is spending the holidays away from her family. Favorite Aunt had another mental breakdown. Went to the hospital. Sadly her husband is no help. So the rest of the family is trying to help her get better.
While there was more cons than pros,it was still a decent year.

Goodish. But not Frank Goodish in that I wasn't stabbed and left to death in a locker room in San Juan. (To soon?)

Once I sorted out my functional depression, 2018 was pretty good.

In 2017 my mom died and then I almost did so anything is an improvement over that I guess I’d describe 2018 as less shitty.

Pretty mixed. My grandfather passed in May, but I had been able to see him last time I went to Puerto Rico before then and he remembered me that time which has didn't the previous times he had seen me.
Another friend my same age passed away unexpectedly in September a few months after I last saw her.
I ran my first marathon which I feel proud of.
I got a new, higher paying job in November and got out of a toxic work environment.
My dad spent some time in the hospital but he's all better now.

Been great. Had some really bad things go down but I tell myself it's a bump keep pushing. My worst parts are also great as they always led to a lasting period.Perspective is everything, cherish the good expel the bad.
