I'm always for a Christian appreciation thread been a peep since 2000.
I would of liked for him to hold it longer but at least we got a good feud out of it.

I remember, he dedicated the match to Edge. Won it for Edge. Orton conned him. Then I turned off the channel. And a few months later he's the heel? |

IIRC, Christian became more obsessed with being a champ after Orton won that he resorted to dirty heel tactics. |

it was a let down. Love Christian. But his run was terribly booked.
His excellent ECW run should have been the blueprint. A fighting champ who defends his belt each week against anyone.

As soon as he won it back I bought tickets to the Smackdown taping that following Tuesday, one of my best memories of things I've seen live was seeing my fav as world champ (and extra catharsis when he pinned Orton in the dark main event).

I fall into the opposite camp in that I ated the initial win (Edgesploitation and Christian is a horrible babyface to my mind) but loved the feud with Orton. Whiny entitled brat Christian was the closest he'd been to a proper main eventer for me.

I loved Christian as World Champion. One of my favourite memories of this board is the SmackDown Spoilers thread literally two days after he won the title. I can’t remember how many pages that thread went, but there was a running joke in that thread that people who didn’t read the spoilers and waited until it aired must be freaking out because of how many pages the thread was.

I loved that Randy Orton won the title back on Smackdown. Never bought into Christian as anything above IC level and his best strength was someone’s (Edge’s) lackey.
Also, his Edge tribute spear made Edge’s look like Goldberg’s.

Apparently after winning the title, Christian hugged Vince. Any chance that Christian had of having a decent reign probably died then.
The matches were great, but the storyline wasn't, with Orton playing the face despite spending the months before kicking people in the skull, and Christian the heel, despite his best friend being forced to retire, him winning the big one for the first time in his career, and getting screwed over by bad refereeing decisions and authority figures.
The feud killed the face heat of Christian and a large chunk of the drawing power of Orton. If they had Christian as the face and Orton the heel, it would have been an all time great feud.

He was champion, for my entire birthday. It was like his gift to me, even though we wouldn't meet, until 2017  My birthday was also the Rock birthday episode.  I loved champion Christian!! |

Edge will always have more titles, but Christian's run, especially the RKO feud for the belt, is the greatest feud of the post-Attitude Era.
