Why is BJ Penn fighting in 2018? I seriously thought he retired like 7 years ago. Best case scenario for him though, fighting a ground guy who just turns his leg into a pretzel and hits him 0 times in the head. Plz retire. Jones/Gus went exactly as I expected/feared. I just have no interest in Jones going forward. UFC bending over backwards to convince people he's innocent and the GOAT. I really don't think anyone cares anymore. I think he's in that Lance Armstrong, Barry Bonds category. Yeah, he may be the GOAT, but it's cheapened and everyone hates him so it doesn't matter that much. I laughed a couple of weeks ago when Dana ripped the state of California and whoever else it was for allowing Chuck Liddell to fight. Meanwhile, he allows BJ Penn to keep fighting after he got beaten bloody in four straight fights and is still allowing him to fight, pretending he has no choice in the matter. Great win by Amanda Nunes, who definitely is the best women's MMA fighter of all time. Disappointed that Gus didn't win but not surprised. |

He's not wrong If you get tested and can take whatever you want and basically have no repercussions, what the hell are you fighting for? Your job is to stay clean. People are jumping through hoops to justify Bones when they need to call it like it is, he cheated and should be called out on it. Their is a legit question if he ever fought clean beforehand
Now in saying that, he can't beat Jones. However, don't get that confused with thinking he's scared because he's not but Jones is just too skilled.
Yeah, I don't think Cormier can beat Jones either, but after having their last fight vacated and Jones fsiling tests leading up to the Gus fight, who would blame him for not taking the fight/trusting Jones would piss clean or even just get punished for not pissing clean? If that's the case, make the fight at 205 and say that Cormier doesn't have to make weight but Jones does. Because that's what you're asking Cormier to do, playing by a different set of rules. Exactly, why would Cormier even want to fight Jones? The fight is pointless, Cormier will most likely lose, but Jones can't keep the belt because he's on the juice or other drugs. People are talking about Bonds, but over half of MLB admitted they were on the juice in the "anonymous" survey. In UFC everyone except Jones is expected to play by the rules. |

Cormier is only like 4 months younger than Penn, which is insane to me. C) His last win was over 8 years ago, at 31, to a near-retirement Matt Hughes. |

In regards to Cormier generally speaking people in heavier weight classes age slower in the ring. They have more in them to absorb a shot. There's also the fact that Cormier hasn't really taken the kind of beatings Penn has. The only really punishing fights he's ever had were against Jones and Gustaffson. And the second Jones fight he really didn't get hit with much until the very end. And on a side note, the roids really felt like a difference maker in the second fight between Cormier and Jones. Cormier was winning that fight until the headkick, and if Jones goes up to heavyweight and fights him clean, I think Cormier puts him down finally. |

If they fight HW, the extra weight will help him absorb shots better but Jones will probably switch up his technique because he's not getting DC down off a takedown
Cormier DOES NOT have to take that fight. He's the HW champ and he gave up the LHW belt. Best believe Dana is going to try to entice him to take fight but if i'm DC i'm not budging unless it's HW and if Jones fails a piss test in the lead up to the fight I don't want to hear anymore excuses

Even then, ignoring all the narrative in terms of Jones testing and all that it's a fight a casual fan would want to say. Their is legit bad blood between the two and on paper this is UFC big money fight outside of one of them vs Lesnar
However, if you are someone who knows all the ins and outs of this whole conflict, you know why DC isn't gung ho about this fight as he had been in the past. Before Jones even won this fight he said he had no interest in fighting Jon again and with Jon pissing dirty potentially again and nothing happened, I don't blame him

DC would have a leg to stand on if he wasn’t also angling for the Brock fight. Since he is, it looks like he just knows he can’t beat Jones and uses the drug testing issue to clean up his own legacy while also avoiding Jones. Lesnar has only failed.........once. How many has Jon failed again? Daniel may believe in second chances, but he is not believing in giving five or six chances. Stop with the 2nd chance stuff. Cormier doesn’t mind the “cheats” and the paydays that come with them except the one he knows he can’t beat. Take a stance with Brock or Silva before that, then he’d be believable. |

If you're in charging of hyping people, and you look at someone who routed Ronda, toppled Tate, and short-circuited Cyborg, and you think, "Nope, can't see how I can hitch a cart to this," you need to retire from marketing.
