Eric Bischoff sets the record straight on Nash Starrcade 97

"To set the record straight, I got a call from Kevin's wife right away," said Bischoff. "Kevin thought he was having a heart attack. It was over the holiday season. There was a lot of partying going on. Kevin had family and friends over and all that kinds of stuff and had a couple of glasses of wine. Kevin had gone to the gym the night before when he got sick or was concerned he was having heart issues... Kevin had done a heavy, heavy leg workout the night before and got up that morning, was socializing, getting ready to go on the plane to get ready for the event, but then he started to feel uncomfortable."

Bischoff then says that Nash's father died at a young age due to a heart attack so Kevin was always aware that heart failure was in his DNA. Nash also had a young son at the time, so he was overly cautious in regards to his health.

"So going back to that day, Kevin wakes up in the morning and doesn't feel well. His blood pressure was up from probably what he was eating and drinking at the time. He was feeling uncomfortable, he had shortness of breath, he had done the right thing - he had gone to the hospital," stated Bischoff.

Nash took a blood test which showed an extraordinary high level of enzymes - the same enzymes produced when muscle breaks down after a heavy workout. But the blood test didn't specify what caused the high level of enzymes so it was thought that Nash had a heart attack.

Now we don't have to hear about Nash "faking" it to get out of a match with The Giant.

The words "Kevin Nash" and "heavy, heavy leg workout" have never gone together in the same sentance before, and I doubt ever will again.

I believe that Eric believes it. I ALSO believe that if Kevin Nash told me the sky was blue, I'd have to look out the window to verify. Dude would say anything to get out of doing the job when he could avoid it.

Wait! What? Don't tell me their tier 1 superstar trains on his own without supervision or plan and practices? No one goes all in day before the game every freakin sportsman knows that. Now I'm inclined to believe that wrestlers back then were doing some stupid crap cause companies didn't take it seriously that they need personal physical therapist around them but to not care about your superstars and allow gym injury is plain stupid. This is mid '90s and WCW we are talking about so I wouldn't be surprised but still.

It was a different era, yeah. Guys hadn't gotten really scientific about their workouts yet, outside of maybe some of the bodybuilder types.

Yes, Nash father did die at a young age from a heart attack and Nash was paranoid about it

However, the story is he broke that excuse about his heart out every time he didn't want to do something so in a sense no one can say when he was crying wolf

I mean it’s not like Eric Bischoff is a shameless self-promoter who only looked out for his friends and was manipulated by the likes of Nash, Hogan and others......otherwise that would mean we couldn’t 100% trust him

All right, I will acknowledge that Eric Bischoff and Kevin Nash were legitimately concerned about the possibility of Nash having a heart attack.

So, why couldn't you book Giant vs. Hall as a make good? You still put on a bait and switch by not even trying to fill the giant gap on your biggest card of the year, especially given what happened later in the night.
