I have an idea what they could have done. Tully returns with Arn to help flair after a few months he turns on Arn and flair forms his own horseman type stable with buddy landell muta possibly another member all led by Gary Hart.

The main thing would be I doubt we get Paul Roma as a horsemen which would be a good thing. It would be interesting if the above did happen. There's plenty of good talent they could have used. I could see the Hollywood Blondes being involved depending on the heel side. Same with Rude or Vader.

I would have loved a face flair vs a heel Tully feud at some point

I think the OP is talking about when Arn and Tully left the WWF in '89 but, Tully failing a drug test put a stop to him coming back.

So back then in '90, it was Flair, Arn, Ole and Sting...
Really, with the Horsemen as faces, I actually see Tully returning to WCW, getting pissed at being excluded from the Horsemen, and joining up with Gary Hart and the J-Tex Corporation. That would lead to the same cage match at Clash of Champions X, except it's an 8-man cage match (Flair, Arn, Ole and Sting vs. Tully, Sakurada, Sawyer and Muta). The Horsemen turn on Sting during the match, and Tully betrays the rest of J-Tex, the heel Horsemen are back together.
And as an extra kicker, Muta becomes a face being the only one of J-Tex to try and help Sting from being beat-down by the other 6 wrestlers in the cage.

I agree in that I'd much rather see Tully against Arn (and Flair) than Tully & Arn together.

Assuming that it would have been Flair, AA, TB, and Sting with Ole as a manager, and everything played out as it would have...Steiners vs. TB & AA? Oh yes please!

As a child I often fantasy booked a horsemen versus horsemen angle with Flair as the babyface with Arn & Bobby Eaton as your tag team, and Barry as the secondary singles all managed by Cornette against some combination of Rick Rude, the Hollywood Blondes, and a young heel Shane Douglas all managed by Paul Heyman... (I was trying to stick with guys who were actually there at the time...)
Sometimes I substitute Sid for Douglas, or if I'm ignoring who was actually in WCW, swap Rude with Curt Hennig or any number of other combinations.

Tully was smart staying as far as possible from WCW in that era. Although Watts would have loved having him if he had come back when he was in charge.

(I was trying to stick with guys who were actually there at the time...) Thank you for reminding me about the Midnight Express... Cornette said during a podcast that there were 'wheels in motion' to have Woman buy the contracts for the ME so that Corny could move onto being a full-time commentator. That would mean the Four Horsemen would be Flair, Arn, Bobby and Stan. Now imagine Tully showing up after an extended period of time and seeing the ME as Horsemen. Tully could still be pissed to losing the World Tag Titles to the Midnights (when they left for the WWF) and that would start a whole new feud.
