303. The Unnamable. Another one that haunted me from the shelves of the video store thirty years ago. The monster is genuinely terrifying. That scream. And there were a few parts where it was legitimately scary and the violence and gore was well done. But it was also very slow and boring. And some of the acting was beyond terrible. The girl with the accent (Tanya) was brutal but so bad she was cute, thanks to that accent and the look of bewilderment that she carries the entire movie. The music was to goofy too. A eerier soundtrack would have done wonders. I do love H.P. Lovecraft and even a bad adaptation of his work is good to me.

55. Beauty & The Beast (2017) - Actually decent adaptation of the cartoon Disney classic.

#360 - What Happened to Monday?
This doesn’t always nail the plot elements and lacks some deep characterization. However, the acting is pretty strong, it’s violent, and filled with exciting moments that make it an enjoyable watch. [***½]

304. Deathstalker II: Duel of the Titans ”Ordinarily I don’t mind seeing a woman get a good beating if she deserves it but this doesn’t look like much of a contest to me.”That’s one of Deathstalker (the hero’s) first lines. This was really funny but not as charmingly funny as the first one because you could tell the people working on it wanted to out cheese the original. The guy who plays Deathstalker is really good, probably better than the original guy, but he’s just not the first guy. That’s the whole thing with this movie: it’s awesome but it’s just not the first movie. Much better production quality as well. The final duel was actually really f***ing good.

305. Spies in Disguise. This wasn’t bad at all. It made me genuinely laugh a few times. And I really do love Will Smith. He oozes charisma even when he’s playing a CGI pigeon. I had to google who Tom Holland is and once I found out I was like “oh yeah, that f***ing schmo”. But the movie was already over.

The year is almost up. I am impressed by the amount of movies that some of you guys have seen. Hell, I think this is the most I have seen in quite some time, and this is probably the first time I have counted the number of movies I have seen in a year.
Is anyone up for a 2020 version?

I’d be up for it. I don’t like looking back on my list because it serves as a reminder of how much of my time was wasted from May to August due to unemployment but fingers crossed that just simply doesn’t happen again in 2020.

I hear you on that. I don't have a job at the moment. Though my list is rather big, I was also in school and had other stuff going on, like writing and photography.

306. Hotel Transylvania. I’ve reached the point in life where you hate Adam Sandler movies. This is more bearable than ones like Grown Ups. It’s honestly not that bad. The third one, that was bad. What I don’t like about this is all his buddies characters and having to hear their voices. David Spade is shit.

Absolutely. #361 - The Muppet Christmas Carol We all know the story of A Christmas Carol. It works for a reason. Add in the classic Muppets charm and a delightful performance from Michael Caine and you’ve got a winner. Also, having it in 4K is part of why I love Disney+. [****]

307. I Eat Your Skin/Zombies. I watched this because the synopsis said it was released in 1970. And it was. But it was filmed in 1964 and shelved for years. The differences in zombie horror and gore between that short a time is huge. This was torture. Bad acting, annoying people (the one lady’s voice, my god) and some of the worst zombies outside of a comedy parody movie. If I’d have know they discrepancies between the time it was actually made I probably might have possibly not watched it. But I was already twenty minutes in and just figured it was the look they were going for. Some of the violence was at least funny. And it’s pretty funny how the lead actor just bangs everyone’s wife.

#362 - Knives Out
I came in with high expectations. This managed to exceed them. I loved every aspect of this film. The direction, screenplay, acting, humor, and everything else is tremendous. It’s Rian Johnson, Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, and pretty much everyone else at their best. [*****]

308. Don’t Worry He Won’t Get Far on Foot. I drink. I don’t drink and drive but I drink. Sometimes lots. So this was hard for me to watch. It scared me more than any horror movie I’ve watched this year.

309. Empire of the Sharks. This was just what I needed to get my mind out of the gutter of reality and into the gutter I feel more comfortable in. A bad SyFy shark movie but not as “camp” as the norm. It still had bad acting and worse CGI but it didn’t have the dumb humour, which I prefer it not have anyway. It would have been better than the Meg, but the Meg has Li BingBing in it and I love her.

57.Starcrash (1979) - Probably my last film of the year and what a clunker, it really isn't good apart from the outfit Munro wears.
