Anyone else watch this one yet? It was pretty fun, but was so similar to John Krasinski’s movie it felt like a retread. Even though though the two were made independently of each other and I think the genesis of Bird Box predates A Quiet Place.

I was not a fan. Really awesome idea but a really hokey movie with an ending to match.

I was not a fan. Really awesome idea but a really hokey movie with an ending to match. The monsters or whatever attack you by creating hallucinations of your biggest fears... So it’s likely an airborne contamination that effects the brain... {Spoiler} so it effects you psychologically,, so eye sight should not be a factor right? I don’t get how these things work.. Also, apologies if I sound really ignorant of the subject.. but how does seeing your deepest fear automatically trigger a suicide solution? Yes a fear like losing everything you love would do that something like that.. . but what the other fears you can just simply run away from... like spiders or clowns? Does the thing just automatically switch off basic survival instincts too? I like to just switch off and enjoy movies.. but premises like this gets me thinking too much and effects my enjoyment..

I think they made a mistake with the whole “it manifests your worst fears!” explanation, and that it’s apparenrtly individual creatures rather just some encompassing, malevolent force. The idea of a world being driven to mass suicide by something they can’t comprehend is pretty scary. Making it individual spooky creatures makes it a generic monster movie, only you can’t see the monsters. And that ending. Jesus.

I watched it last week The premise is okay and the movie is an okay thriller that keeps your interest. Once you start to question it though and how they executed it then that's when your mind starts to ask questions but you're better off just enjoying the ride Hated the ending though
I swear someone is going to name their child boy and girl this year

Worse if they have triplets we'll get Boy, Girl & Bandersnatch

The More I think about it the more I dislike it.
I mean, the Movie is "The Happening" but with no resolution.

I liked it. It was fun. If I made it, they would have run into a wizard to get rid of the boggart.

The ending absolutely killed the entire movie for me. That was a huge waste of 2 hours.

I honestly hadn't heard of this movie until all the memes started showing up as well.

I thought it was okay, though I didn't understand why Sandra Bullock's sister was affected but not her during the opening scene.

I saw it last night. It was very tense, but it unraveled as soon as they got to the rapids and that awful, boring ending. It was a mix between The Happening (the suicide aspect) and Cell (the nove, with the crazies trying to get others to get affected too).
The best bit of it was before the rapids when Sandra Bullock said "I'll choose who goes". That was great, but then they didn't go through with it. Sandra making Girl look in order to save herself and her son would have been dark, twisted, f***ed up and awesome.
If I was writing it, I'd have hinted that Girl had mental issues. She'd have seen something in the rapids but it wouldn't have killed her, it just made her want to expose others. The ending would have been a shot of Girl doing something like ringing a birds neck.

And that little girl grew up to be...Brock Lesnar.

Honestly, I would say I'd be disappointed in people being stupid enough to take "the Bird Box Challenge" in real life... but then I remembered people in general aren't that bright to begin with.

So I finally sat down and watched it. Bullock’s performance is great, but I would have liked a lot more insight as to what the entities were. There’s a bunch of things about the premise that could have been explored better.
It’s an alright thriller. Not a masterpiece but not total dreck either.

It was basically a zombie apocalypse movie where they decided with a bit of waffle they could save the cash on CGI/extra zombies.
