news.sky.com/story/sir-billy-connolly-battle-with-parkinsons-has-left-me-near-the-end-11597595Very sad, and he gets really deep here... "My life, it's slipping away and I can feel it and I should," Sir Billy will say in the documentary airing on Friday, according to the Daily Mirror. "I'm 75, I'm near the end. I'm a damn sight nearer the end than I am the beginning. "But it doesn't frighten me, it's an adventure and it is quite interesting to see myself slipping away." He continues: "As bits slip off and leave me, talents leave and attributes leave. "I don't have the balance I used to have, I don't have the energy I used to have. "I can't hear the way I used to hear, I can't see as good as I used to. I can't remember the way I used to remember. "And they all came one at a time and they just slipped away, thank you. "It is like somebody is in charge of you and they are saying 'right, I added all these bits when you were a youth, now it is time to subtract'." Speaking about the disease, he says: "It takes a certain calm to deal with, and I sometimes don't have it. I sometimes get angry with it, but that doesn't last long, I just collapse in laughter."

It’s really sad. The world will be a less happy place without the funniest man in it.

That's sad. I never really watched his comedy work, but whenever I saw him appear on other shows like Top Gear as a guest he always came across as a really nice guy. I enjoyed the show where he rode a bike across America too, that was great and he came across as very likeable and enthusiastic in it.

He's been just a complete joy to watch in everything I've ever seen him in.
Hilarious as Billy Bones in Muppet Treasure Island

I only remember dude from Head of the Class and a random stand up special I saw on HBO as a kid
Sad, but he seems to be taking it about as well as someone can.

I marched in the 2007 NYC Gay Pride Parade with my cast from the Rocky Horror Picture Show. Why do I bring this up in this thread?
As I was marching down one of the streets, interacting with parade-goers, standing against a police rail, just quietly observing the parade was none other than Billy Connolly.
Nobody else realized who it was, and I don't know if they even cared, but here was this celebrity, this hilarious man, showing his support for a cause I believed in; that day, he wasn't famous; just a parade-goer, but I made good of the time I had with him before I had to move on, and I mentioned I loved his work, from Head of the Class, to Lemony Snicket, and everything in between, even Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties. As I continued on, I don't know if anyone else recognized him, but the world works in mysterious ways, and that day, it lead me to meet one of my comedic idols, and he wasn't taking advantage of the situation; he was just like me, like the rest of us, human, and caring and kind; a man who was and is truly a humble man.

My favourite comedian. Got the pleasure of seeing him a few times ... I love his style, he does not have a planned set, he just goes out there and uses his memory and improvises if something comes to his head.
They never felt like a stand up set, they felt like being in a conversation with a very funny person.
It will be sad when he goes.

I grew up watching Billy Connolly stand up, my Mum loved him. This makes me immensely sad.

It's a toss-up between he and Carlin for my favourite comedian, and his off-the-cuff style is a big part of that. He's a legend in every sense of the word and it will be a truly sad day when he passes.

"Maybe I should've phrased it better." While he does have Parkinson’s and isn’t getting any younger, you’d not know it from this clip. He looks like a man totally at ease with his situation and without a care in the world. I know it’s not the case ass such, but he’s certainly not letting it get of top of him. Good on ya, Big Yin!
