I used to go to bed at 10:30, but for the past year, I've been going to bed at 9:30, but ever since last month, when I got sick and had trouble sleeping for a week, I can't get sleepy at that time anymore.
Am I just going to bed too early, or do I have a sleeping problem?

You might have a sleeping problem. Try to get a lot of exercise throughout the day so you're physically tired by the time 9:00 rolls around.

If it’s consistent, something’s changed. Ya gotta hone in on what it is. Diet or wake up time, activity, job, whatever it might be.

I've tried an hour's worth of exercise, but I'm still wide awake.

When do you get up in the morning? If later than 6, then I'd say you're sleeping too much.

When do you get up in the morning? If later than 6, then I'd say you're sleeping too much. 6:30. Which makes for roughly 8 hours of sleep/rest. Do you feel tired when waking up? Having trouble to get going in the morning? Could be as simple as that you're a night person. Do you wake up during the night, not getting uninterupted sleep? I'm not a in any way medically qualified, but I can offer the following advice: 1. Don't go to bed if you're not tired enough that you think you'd fall asleep. Tossing and turning in bed never does any good. 2. Paul mentioned exercise. That's good advice. A quick 30-min or so walk during the day is a good place to start. 3. Reduce your intake of caffein, be it from coffee/tea or soda. Also reduce sugar. 4. Turn off screen devices at least an hour before turning in. Allow your brain to slow down. 5. See a doctor if you are truly concerned.

Like I said, if I'm not asleep in 10-20 minutes, I take a sleep formula pill. Lately, I just haven't been as sleepy when I go to bed as I used to be.

Sounds to me like you should go back to your later bedtime, if not even later than that, esp since you say you're not feeling tired at 21:30. Try it for a while and see how you feel. That's really all I can say.

That's really all I can say. I tried going to bed at 9:45 once, and I didn't sleep at all that night. I'm worried I'll be up all night if I try to go to bed later. dude I have been battling the same issue for 5 years. I get panicked about not falling asleep and then I don't fall asleep. I recommend starting with melatonin tablets an hour before bed. and dont do anything with screens, like tv or a computer. exercise is also a bad idea because it gives you adrenaline boosts. I recommend reading a book for the last hour or so before bed. if that still doesn't help you rest at night you may need to talk to your doctor. and also keep in mind the average adult can get by on 5-6 hours of sleep a night. I get between 6 and 7 but thats because I'm on medication that helps me sleep.

If I go to bed early, I seem to feel more tired the next day oddly enough
